ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent Robert Griffin III is on the Broncos' radar, and "could be visiting Denver."

Raiders signed CB Sean Smith, formerly of the Chiefs, to a four-year, $40 million contract.


ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Jets and free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick are "nowhere close to an agreement."
Schefter added a deal is not expected "anytime soon." Easily the best quarterback left on the market, Fitzpatrick is wisely trying to drive the price up on what will likely be his final big deal. There are reports the Broncos may be interested after losing Brock Osweiler to Houston, which would give Fitzpatrick yet another bargaining chip.


NFL Network's Mike Silver expects the Broncos to pursue Colin Kaepernick.
It's not out of left field, as Silver's colleague Ian Rapoport reported earlier Wednesday that Kap appeared to be the Broncos' "backup plan.

Titans agreed to terms with WR Rishard Matthews on a three-year contract.
He chose the Titans over the Patriots, almost certainly because Tennessee offered more money. Matthews, 26, caught 43 passes for 662 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games for the Dolphins last year, showing playmaking ability in the short and intermediate range.

Steelers signed TE Ladarius Green, formerly of the Chargers, to a four-year, $20 million contract.

Saints signed TE Coby Fleener, formerly of the Colts, to a five-year, $36 million contract.
Fleener is a catch-first tight end, but has improved as a blocker. His Colts numbers were routinely held back by a timeshare with Dwayne Allen, but he's caught at least 50 passes each of the past three years.

Restricted free agent C.J. Anderson is already drawing interest from the Bears, Dolphins, 49ers and Patriots, according to Profootballtalk on NBC Sports.
Three of those teams have immediate holes to fill at running back with San Francisco being the lone exception. Anderson got off to a rough start last season but finished the year strong by averaging 6.3 yards per carry over his last eight games.

The numbers of this contract are absolutely ridiculous! Osweiler isn't some 8 year vet with a lot of success. I would say his "audition" with the Broncos last year went"OK", but $18 million a year? He has like 7 starts ever in the NFL!!! I wish the Texans luck, but I am going to go out on a very stable limb and say they made a monumental mistake that will hurt them more financially in the long run than it will help them on the football field at any point.

DK Pittsburgh's Dejan Kovacevic reports Martavis Bryant is facing a one-year suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
Bryant was suspended four games at the beginning of last season for a substance-abuse violation, making a 10-game suspension possible after another failed test. It is unclear why Bryant jumped straight to a year-long ban, but it is possible he committed multiple violations. Bryant will appeal the suspension, but it is likely he will miss all of 2016.

Patriots acquired TE Martellus Bennett and a sixth-round pick from the Bears in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
Chicago shopped Bennett all offseason and finally found a taker in New England.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora has heard "mounting buzz" that free agent Robert Griffin III will eventually sign with the Browns.
La Canfora "wouldn't be surprised at all" if a deal is finalized this week. After meeting with RG3 last week, Browns coach Hue Jackson called the visit "great," and referred to Griffin as a "tremendous talent" and "great young man." The Browns' current quarterback depth chart reads Josh McCown, Austin Davis, Connor Shaw.

Cowboys signed RB Alfred Morris, formerly of the Redskins, to a two-year contract.
Morris was a workhorse his first two years in the league, gaining 2,888 yards and scoring 20 touchdowns on 611 carries. He struggled to continue that success in Jay Gruden's offense the last two seasons and managed just 3.7 yards per carry last year. His career appears to be trending in the wrong direction, but a new scheme and an elite offensive line could certainly help turn his fortunes around.
