WHAT'S BREWING TODAY Friday September, 9 On Today's Scorecard Global Warming |
Per ESPN, patience is supposedly a virtue, though not one necessarily practiced in the win-soon/now-or-else NFL. Coaching turnover is a fact of life in the league, and history suggests at least a half dozen of the current bosses will be goners by mid-January. Ten coaching jobs switched hands in the 2022 offseason, a number bolstered by Jon Gruden's disgraceful midseason ouster in Las Vegas last year, the retirement of Bruce Arians in Tampa Bay and Sean Payton's decision to leave the New Orleans Saints. Since the end of the 2020 season, there have been 17 hires or promotions throughout the league. The Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars are both on their fourth head coach in the past two years. Arizona Cardinals' Kliff Kingsburyis the only member of the NFC West quartet who hasn't taken his team to the Super Bowl. Yet, despite a 24-25-1 mark during his three seasons and nary a playoff victory, Kingsbury and GM Steve Keim were extended through the 2027 season in March. Go figure. The battle for golf supremacy continues — and the PGA Tour is striking back. In an attempt to match the Saudi-backed LIV Golf in terms of prize money, the Tour's purses for the 2022-23 season will total $428.6 million across 44 events — plus an additional $145 million in bonuses. Hey, these guys are good. |
Grinding Out The Profits Sink Hole |
UCF head coach Gus Malzahn watched his offense regress 163 YPG and 10 PPG in his first season with the Knights. To help stop the sinking, Malzahn landed the top Transfer Portal class in the AAC. With UCF 6-1 ATS as home chalk of fewer than 7 points, and Louisville 2-9 ATS as a dog in the same price range, you know what to do. |
