Re: NFL Players News and Weather Week 17.

Alvin Kamara (COVID-19) would be eligible to return for a Sunday game on Wild Card weekend but not Saturday.
That's if he "remains asymptomatic and receives medical clearance." The Saints still have an outside shot at the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye, but they will almost certainly be suiting up in round one. If and when that's the case, Kamara's fate will fall to the NFL's schedulers.

Bills placed TE Tyler Kroft on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Any player who tests positive is big news with the playoffs just a week away. Kroft will be ineligible to play in Week 17 and in the Wild Card Round. Hopefully the Bills followed protocols, and Kroft's positive is controlled.

Steelers placed TE Eric Ebron on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
He'll be joined by CB Joe Haden and LB Cassius Marsh. ESPN's Dan Graziano reports Haden was a positive and the other two were deemed high-risk close contacts. Hopefully the Steelers aren't dealing with a coronavirus outbreak right before the playoffs. The team will be closing out the regular season with a meaningless game against the Browns. Ben Roethlisberger, T.J. Watt, and other starters will be resting.

Re: NFL Players News and Weather Week 17.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Rams RB Cam Akers (ankle) "is likely to try to play today against the Cardinals" in Week 17.
This doesn't guarantee that Akers will play but it does paint an optimistic picture after the rookie missed Week 16 with a high-ankle sprain.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the "Cardinals are not optimistic" that WR Larry Fitzgerald (groin) will play in Week 17 against the Rams.
The Cardinals have up until an hour and a half before kickoff to make a final decision on Fitzgerald but it doesn't sound like he will play.

Re: NFL Players News and Weather Week 17.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Washington RB Antonio Gibson (toe) is preparing to play in Week 17 against the Eagles.
Washington is playing for the coveted NFC East title and a playoff berth. All they need is a win over the Eagles and they make the postseason. They are expected to have Gibson, QB Alex Smith, and WR Terry McLaurin all back in the starting lineup this week.

Re: NFL Players News and Weather Week 17.

Vikings declared DB Cameron Dantzler, RB Dalvin Cook, LB Eric Kendricks, OG Kyle Hinton, DL Jalyn Holmes, and DL Ifeadi Odenigbo as inactive for Week 17 against the Lions.

Bengals declared K Randy Bullock, CB Mackensie Alexander, LB Logan Wilson, OL Keaton Sutherland, CB William Jackson III, TE Mitchell Wilcox, and OL Alex Redmond inactive for Week 17 against the Ravens.
After missing Week 16 with a brain injury, Tyler Boyd makes his return for the team's finale.

James Conner is active for Week 17 against the Browns.
Conner is not amongst the key Steelers regulars getting officially rested, but we wouldn't be surprised if he played few, if any, snaps. Officially inactive are QB Ben Roethlisberger, DB Terrell Edmunds, K Chris Boswell, C Maurkice Pouncey, LB T.J. Watt and DE Cam Heyward.

Josh Allen is active for Week 17 against the Dolphins.
With "only" seeding to play for, the Bills could have opted to rest Allen, Stefon Diggs, etc., but they will see at least some work in the regular season finale.

Re: NFL Players News and Weather Week 17.

Just a heads up in case you didn't know the changes for the playoffs this year. Only one team from each conference gets a bye.

The NFL's expanded playoff bracket has been a topic of conversation all season, but with the playoffs finally around the corner, it's worth revisiting exactly how a 14-team field works in the first year of its existence.
The league made the move from 12 teams qualifying to 14 for the 2020 season. A lot of the reasoning comes back to interest and money, but it also creates a different playoff picture than NFL fans may be used to. There's now a No. 7 seed to play for in each conference. There's only one bye instead of two on each side, too. It forces a recalibration of how late-season results are viewed.

The report isn't all that surprising after the team refused this week to commit to playing its starters against Miami. It looks like the Bills want Josh Allen to break the team's single season passing yardage record -- he's only 40 yards away from doing so -- before yanking him for Barkley.
