  • Thursday Night CFB Play

    Virginia Tech +1.5 (LOSER)

I am feeling very public with this play but this Pitt team is very one dimensional on offense and over rated on defense. They have now lost three in a row including their last home game to Akron in an embarrassing fashion. All three teams (Akron, Iowa and Virginia were able to slow the run game and try and make first year starting QB Chad Voytik beat them through the air). This should be the best defense Pitt faces this year with VT as the number two team in the country in sacks and have shown they can contain the run. VT also looking for some revenge as they came up to Heinz Field two years ago as a highly ranked team and got spanked on national TV. Pitt's defense shows they are 4th in the nation in yards allowed at 278 game. This number is skewed as they only allowed 64 in the opener against Delaware. A more accurate barometer might be seeing they have given up passes of 62, 44, 52, 30, 48 and 57 and runs of 48 and 42 — four of those for touchdowns. VT will be missing their top 2 RB's but have a solid O-Line and will be able to move the ball on this defense. Pitt's defense is so thin on the D line that they will be using their top RB, James Connor as a DL tonight. They are also thin in the defensive backfield and undersized at LB.

Hoping I am getting some nice line value as this game opened VT -3 and moved to Pitt-2. Bucking the reverse line move and public tonight and taking the better team moving in the right direction.
