J'Mar Smith should be the quarterback down the stretch after replacing Alex McGough in the second quarter of last week's comeback victory over the Philadelphia Stars. The Stallions (+37), Generals (+26) and Breakers (+25) easily boast the league's top-three best point differentials. Surprising the only other team in the league to sport a positive point differential are the Panthers (+7), despite owning only one win on the season. Kirby Smart brought Georgia football its first national championship in over four decades, so it only figures that they want to keep him around forever. Whenever a coach brings a football powerhouse its first national championship in 41 years, it's going a bit more than just a longer leash. With it, the Georgia athletic department is finalizing a long-term and almost surely lucrative extension for Smart. Given that offensive coordinator Todd Monkensaw a $750,000 per year salary raise, you have to assume that the Bulldogs head man will be one of the highest-paid coaches in the country, if not at the top of that list. And to be sure, he deserves it.

Grinding Out The Profits Dodge Ball

When the Dodgers meet the Diamondbacks in Arizona Saturday they will send Tony Gonsolin to the hill knowing he sports a 1.62 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP this season. He is also 5-2 with a 1.50 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP in his last seven starts. With that, look for the Blue Crew to improve on its 25-6 overall mark in this series today.
