    You Gotta Be Kidding
Per ESPN, after months of lengthy debates and multiple meetings about expansion, the College Football Playoff will remain at four teams through the end of its current 12-year contract, which expires following the 2025 season.

Go figure. By choosing to remain at four teams for four more years, the 10 FBS conferences and Notre Dame have forfeited roughly $450 million in potential revenue.

"I understand, this is complex, and I recognize the conferences' positions," said CFP Executive director Bill Hancock.

One of the major obstacles to expansion included an inability to appease the Pac-12's relationship with the Rose Bowl, which wants to cling to its traditional day and time along with its media rights.

To which we say, isn't it about time to boot the Charmin-soft PAC-12 out of the Power Five alliance - the one conference annually that fails to hold up its end of the Power Five deal?

    Irreparable Harm
It was the term used by the Court of Arbitration for Sports as justification to allow 15-year-old Russian Olympic figure skater Kamila Valieva to skate despite her positive test. "None of this is the fault of the athlete," the panel said.

She came to Beijing as the favorite to win gold and will leave without a medal as the unfortunate villain of these Olympics. With it, a child was failed by the adults around her, and figure skating was failed by an anti-doping system that protected no one.

After multiple falls during the free skate, she finished in fourth place while teammate Anna Shcherbakova won the gold. An ongoing investigation into another Russian failed drug test may force the ROC to forfeit the medal. Which begs the question, "Why are the cheaters from Russia even allowed to compete?"

From this week's PLAYBOOK Basketball Newsletter: College hoops away teams who defeat the defending National Champion at home and beat the spread by 8-plus points in the game - read: Texas Tech - are 1-10 ATS since 2000 when facing a .720 or greater conference foe coming off a win.

Meanwhile, Texas is 17-5-1 ATS versus Texas Tech when the Red Raiders own the better record. You know the deal.
