Clapton wrote this song for Patti Boyd George Harrisons wife when he was with Derek and the Dominoes, Clapton was in love with Boyd, a top model in the UK. The struggle with being in love with his best friends wife was the start of his cocaine addiction. He ended up married to her 2 years after she split with George after 11 years of marriage but him and Clapton remained friends. The unplugged version was a solo effort by him released in the early 90's after his breakup with her after 10 years married. Great story great song and I like both versions
