In 1954, a group of friends who grew up together in Ferndale, Michigan, a northern suburb bordering Detroit, came together to make music. For a time, several of the band members resided in Detroit's Herman Gardens public housing projects. Billy Henderson, Henry Fambrough, Pervis Jackson, C. P. Spencer, andJames Edwards[disambiguation needed] called themselves The Domingoes. However James Edwards lasted only a few weeks. He was replaced by Bobby Smith, who sang lead on most of the Spinners' early records (and many of their biggest Atlantic hits). C. P. Spencer left the group shortly afterwards, and later went on to be a member of the Voice Masters and The Originals. He was replaced by George Dixon. The group renamed themselves The Spinners in 1961. This name was chosen after looking at popular car hubcaps and noting how they spun around on a car's wheel.[1]

Sounds to me like LSD was available in the early 60's Skip lol

Philipp? Wynne (aka Philippe Escalante Wynn; n? Walker; April 3, 1941 – July 14, 1984) was an American singer. Best known for his role as a lead singer of The Spinners (a role he shared with fellow group members Bobby Smith, and Henry Fambrough). Wynne scored notable hits such as "How Could I Let You Get Away", "The Rubberband Man", and "One of a Kind (Love Affair)". After leaving The Spinners, Wynne never regained the same success, although he was featured in hits by other artists such as "(Not Just) Knee Deep" by Funkadelic. Wynne died of a heart attack while performing at a nightclub.

It's been said that he actually wanted to change the group's name from The Spinners to Philipp? Wynne and The Spinners. Unfortunately, Philipp?'s ego grew way too big for the group, so he made the decision to leave them in 1977 to pursue a solo career.

Didn't know that Rajon Rondo was in that group. At the 40 second mark of this song the Spinners appear in a still. Rajon is the second guy from the left.

                    PS Great old song, Brock.
