Re: NBA Betting Info. 2/10
Preview: Houston At Portland
When: 10:30 PM ET, Wednesday, February 10, 2016
Where: Moda Center at the Rose Quarter, Portland, Oregon
The Portland Trail Blazers are one of the hottest teams in the NBA and seek their 12th victory in the past 15 games when they host the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. Portland stands in ninth place in the Western Conference, a half-game behind the eighth-place Utah Jazz and only two games behind the sixth-place Dallas Mavericks.
The Trail Blazers posted an impressive 96-79 road victory over the Rockets on Saturday as they limited Houston to 32.5 percent shooting. Portland followed up that strong effort by winning in Memphis for the first time in more than three years with Monday’s 112-106 overtime decision. Houston has been an underachieving team this season after reaching the Western Conference finals last year. The Rockets dropped a 123-110 decision to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday for their fifth defeat in the last seven games.
TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, ROOT (Houston), KGW (Portland)
ABOUT THE ROCKETS (27-27): All-Star guard James Harden scored 37 points against Golden State and has scored 30 or more in eight of the past 13 games. One of those times was when he scored 33 points in Saturday’s loss to the Trail Blazers and that performance wasn’t near as good as the Nov. 18 contest against Portland when he had 45 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and five steals in a 108-103 overtime victory. The defense has struggled over the past seven games as the Rockets are allowing 113.6 points per game during the stretch.
ABOUT THE TRAIL BLAZERS (26-27): Point guard Damian Lillard was somehow omitted from the Western Conference All-Star team and has registered four 30-point outings and six double-doubles during Portland’s 11-3 run. Lillard had 33 points against Memphis for his 12th 30-point outing of the campaign and ranks sixth in the NBA in scoring (24.6) and 3-point baskets (134). He had 21 points Saturday and has scored 20 or more points in eight of his 13 regular-season outings against the Rockets.
BUZZER BEATERS
1. Rockets C Dwight Howard had 17 points and 14 rebounds on Saturday and is averaging 16.5 rebounds in this season’s two meetings.
2. Portland backup SG Gerald Henderson has scored 16 points in each of the past two games and has reached double digits in a season-best five straight contests.
3. Houston F Josh Smith is averaging three points on 2-of-13 shooting over the past three games after scoring in double digits in four of his first seven games upon being acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers.
PREDICTION: Trail Blazers 100, Rockets 90
