    St Louis at Toronto Series

The AL East-leading Blue Jays off a series sweep of Detroit Tigers improved to 37-24 (+$1349) having won five straight (+$578) and 14 of 16 (+$1306) platting a whopping 6 runs/game with the pitching staff giving up just 3.2 per/contest. The Cardinals dropping 3-of-4 vs Royals head north of the border ridding a 2-7 slump which brings the record to 31-30 (-$789) crossing 3.8 per/game with the pitching staff giving up 3.7 per/contest.

Friday, Blue Jays start things off handing the ball to Marcus Stroman who earned a win in his first Major League start tossing six innings allowing one run on five hits with six strikeouts against the Royals last Saturday. Cardinals counter with Lance Lynn (6-3, 3.48) off his shortest outting of the season getting smacked for 8 hits, 7 runs over 3.1 innings in a loss to the Giants.

Saturday, left-hander Mark Buehrle (10-1, 2.10) gets the nod for John Gibbons' troops and will trade pitches with Shelby Miller (6-5, 4.06). Buehrle tossing a quality start in all but two of his 12 outings hits the rubber with a smart 14-4 team start stretch at the Rogers Center. Shelby hitting a rough spot has lost three consecutive starts allowing 15 runs over 17.0 innings of work.

Sunday's finale features Jays Drew Hutchison (4-3, 3.50) and Cardinals Jaime Garcia (1-0, 5.47). Hutchison is coming off a gem of a performance against the Tigers, allowing three hits in seven scoreless innings while striking out seven, walking none. He earned a no-decision, but hasn't lost a start in four trips to the mound with Jays a perfect 4-0 over the span. Garcia ran into trouble last start allowing six runs on 8 hits over five frames pegged with a ND in Cardinals loss to the Royals. Cardinals have lost Garcia's last two starts and three of his last four starts.

O's cashing in as home dogs with Chen on mound

The Oakland A's and the Baltimore Oriole's renew acquaintances at Oriole Park at Camden Yards Friday, and early odds are suggesting the opening game is a tossup.

With both teams playing great baseball as of late, the moneyline for the matchup is currently a pick 'em at -104. Tommy Milone gets the ball for the A's while the O's will counter with Wei-Yin Chen.

If the line moves The Birds to underdog status, keep this in mind: Baltimore is 7-0 in Chen's last seven starts as home dogs.

Twins a great bet with Hughes starting

Phil Hughes' comeback season with the Minnesota Twins has been nothing short of spectacular so far, evidenced by his 6-1 record and 3.12 ERA. The former Yankee managed just four wins in 29 starts last year with The Bronx Bombers.

Minnesota takes on the Houston Astros Friday and are riding a high with Hughes on the mound: The Twins are 8-0 in his last eight starts.

Dallas Keuchel will counter for the Astros (6-3, 2.70 ERA). The Twinkies are presently -116 favorites.

          Friday's Late Tips
          By Kevin Rogers
          VegasInsider.com

          Braves at Diamondbacks

          Probable Pitchers:
          ATL: Teheran (5-3, 1.83 ERA)
          ARZ: McCarthy (1-7, 5.20 ERA)

Previous series results: The Diamondbacks return home after pulling off a three-game sweep over the struggling Rockies. Arizona plated 28 runs in the final two victories at Coors Field, while sweeping its first series of the season. The Braves will be happy not to play an American League opponent after dropping a pair of home contests to the Mariners. Atlanta owns an 0-6 record in interleague play, which includes four losses at Turner Field.

What to watch for: The Braves have lost four of their past five road series openers, while posting an 8-1 mark to the ‘under’ in the last nine starts made by Teheran. The Diamondbacks are 1-5 in McCarthy’s six starts in the role of an underdog, while Arizona’s pitching has allowed at least four runs in six of the past seven games played at Chase Field.

          White Sox at Angels

          Probable Pitchers:
          CHW: Rienzo (4-2, 4.26 ERA)
          LAA: Weaver (6-4, 3.33 ERA)

Previous series results: The White Sox remain in Southern California after grabbing two of three from the Dodgers earlier this week. Chicago cashed in each of the final two wins as underdogs of +158 and +165, while improving to 6-3 in the past nine contests. The Angels have been going backwards of late by dropping six of nine games on their road trip, while losing two of three at Houston, all as a favorite.

What to watch for: Los Angeles is 6-1 to the ‘over’ in the past seven contests, while allowing at least five runs six times in this span. The White Sox have won each of the last four road starts made by Rienzo, while Chicago has cashed the ‘under’ in eight of the previous nine contests overall.

          NNationals at Padres

          Probable Pitchers:
          WSH: Roark (3-4, 3.25 ERA)
          SD: Ross (6-4, 2.85 ERA)

Previous series results: The Nationals swept the struggling Phillies at home, while scoring 19 runs in those three victories. The Padres continue their homestand as San Diego avoided a sweep by knocking off Pittsburgh on Wednesday, 3-1 in spite of racking up only one hit. Washington has won five of the past seven meetings with San Diego, but the two teams split a four-game set at Nationals Park in late April.

What to watch for: Washington has lost each of the last three starts made by Roark, but the Nationals scored just three total runs in those outings (all ‘unders’). The Padres are 1-5 in the last six series openers at Petco Park, but San Diego has won four of the last five home starts made by Ross. San Diego’s offense continues to be the worst in baseball, cashing the ‘under’ in five of the past six games overall.

          Mets at Giants

          Probable Pitchers:
          NYM: Niese (3-3, 2.69 ERA)
          SF: Cain (1-3, 3.66 ERA)

Previous series results: The Mets head to the West Coast after losing all three games to the suddenly surging Cubs, including last night’s 7-4 defeat. San Francisco returns home following a very successful road trip, capped off by taking two of three from Cincinnati. The Giants compiled a 5-2 mark against the Cardinals and Reds, while continuing to stay atop the NL West race at 39-21.

What to watch for: Matt Cain is back from the disabled list, as the Giants have won three of his last four starts since beginning the season at 0-4 in his first four outings. The Mets are 5-1-1 to the ‘over’ in the past seven games, while New York is 2-4 in its last six road series openers. New York has seen plenty of success at AT&T Park over the last few seasons, winning each of the last five visits to San Francisco.

            Friday's MLB Betting Cheat Sheet
            By Covers.com

Top Money Pitchers Duel in Twin Cities

Two of baseball's top 5 money pitchers take the mound when the Minnesota Twins (-114, 7.5) host the Houston Astros. Houston's Dallas Keuchel is ranked fifth in the majors at $683 units, while the resurgent Phil Hughes is second at $1017 units for the Twins.

            Rays Favored as Skid Continues

The Tampa Bay Rays losing streak has now hit 10 games and despite this they are still favored at -137 for their home date with the Seattle Mariners. The Rays have been favored for six of the games during the current skid. It's Erick Bedard's turn to try and stop the bleeding, but the Rays haven't won in his last four starts.

            Rocky stretch for Colorado

The Colorado Rockies pitching staff has struggled, giving up 7.4 runs per game in the last 10. Combine that with the fact the Rockies bats have also gone a little cold, scoring just 3.8 runs per game compared to their usual average of 5.0 and the Rockies have lost nine of 10, including seven straight. They are start a weekend series with the Dodgers (-123).

            Pitching Notes

Cole Hamels takes the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies as an underdog for the third time in nine starts this season. The Phillies have just one win in Hamels starts this season and are 6-0-3 over/under. The Phillies take on the Cincinnati Reds (-139), who send Johnny Ceuto to the mound.

The Chicago White Sox are +179 dogs when they visit the Los Angeles Angels (-195) tonight. Rienzo has been a dog in all eight of his starts this year, resulting in him being the fourth best money pitcher at +$690 units. However, the Sox have lost the last two games Rienzo has started.

            Hitting Notes

The Toronto Blue Jays offense just keeps rolling. In Thursday's 7-3 win over the Detroit Tigers, not only did they complete the series sweep, but Melky Cabrerra, Juan Francisco and Brett Lawrie all hit their 10th homers of the year. The Jays have won 19 of 23, but even with all the dingers are just 11-11-1 over/under in that span.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been absolutely crushing the ball in their last three, scoring 32 runs on 48 hits in a sweep of the Colorado Rockies. Bettors should take note however, they take one of the best under teams when they start a weekend series with the Atlanta Braves.

            Totals Streak

Chicago White Sox (1-8 over/under): The White Sox pitching has improved thanks in part to the return of Chris Sale and his ability to anchor the rotation. They are only giving up 2.9 runs per game during their current under run. They start a series with the Los Angeles Angels today with a total currently at 8.0.

            Injury Notes

There is no timetable for Washington Nationals' left fielder Bryce Harper to return from a torn ligament in his thumb, but he hopes to return sometime in early July. Harper injured his thumb sliding into third base April 21. The Nationals are 17-17 and are -$314 units in Harper's absence.

Mat Latos' return to the Cincinnati Reds rotation could be delayed after having a minor league rehab start cut short Wednesday. Latos left the game after 67 pitchers with a calf cramp. He may make one more rehab start before returning to the big club. Latos went 14-7 with a 3.16 ERA last season for the Reds.

            Weather Watch

There will be a 13 mile per hour wind blowing in from right-center field at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington for the Rangers (-168, 8) series opener against the Cleveland Indians. Teams are 6-6 over/under in these conditions at Arlington.
