    On Today's Scorecard
    Shaky Starts
Week Two of the NFL preseason produced wobbly efforts from projected starting quarterbacks.

Seahawks starting signal caller Geno Smithand the offensive unit struggled to pick up first downs in their first couple of drives.

Patriots QB Mac Jonesovercame a shaky start and two three-and-outs to lead the offense on a second-quarter scoring drive against the Carolina Panthers before his night was over.

Steelers QB Kenny Pickettimpressed against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as did rookie RB George Pickens, who is currently the favorite to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award (he's been that impressive).

Meanwhile, Deon Cain- the 6-foot-2, 202-pound 26-year-old rookie out of Clemson - had a game-high five catches for 66 yards, highlighted by an acrobatic 24-yard grab down the right sideline. He has provided similar splash plays on the practice field this summer. The Eagles have some tough choices to make at wideout, with former first-round pick Jalen Reagor, undrafted rookie Britain Coveyand Cain all vying for spots in a crowded receiver room featuring A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins and Zach Pascal.

    It's Getting Crowded In Here
Miami's leading rusher the past two seasons, Myles Gaskin, may be the odd man out for the Dolphins this season.

He's in a 5-way battle in a crowed RB room where Chase Edmonds, Sony Michel, Raheem Mostert, and Salvon Ahmed are all in the mix.

PFF notes that coaches who come from Shanahan-style systems love to hold a variety of running backs, but five seems like too many even for new head coach and former San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
    Grinding Out The Profits
    1 And 1A
By now we are all aware of the Baltimore Ravens amazing 22-0 record in their last twenty-two preseason games.

Better yet, they are 20-1-1 ATS in those games.

And don't look now, but the Buffalo Bills will take a 10-0 SUATS preseason win skein into Friday's contest at Carolina.

That's what I'd call two hot horses running in the ATS Preseason Stakes.
