WHAT'S BREWING TODAY Wednesday, August 10 On Today's Scorecard Spilling The Beans |
Today we visit the AFC West division training camps where NFL Nation continues with its predictions for the 2022 season ahead. They contend that Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Isaiah Spiller will prove himself a potential difference-maker on offense, earning more than just backup carries behindAustin Ekeler. The Chargers selected Spiller from Texas A&M with a fourth-round pick. Pass protection, along with Spiller's instincts as a runner and hands as a pass-catcher, will enable him to earn playing time early. FYI: Spiller is not related to C.J. Spiller. However, Spiller's father, Fred, played tight end for Texas A&M from 1999 until 2000. |
Trending Today Poll Toll |
Alabama may be No. 1 in the preseason 2022 Coaches Poll but it hardly guarantees success. Just ask Nick Saban. For the Crimson Tide, it's the seventh time in the past 13 seasons it has started the season at No. 1. But only once has Alabama managed to win the championship trophy after receiving the preseason's top ranking. Uh oh. FYI: Someone among the coaches is all-in on Texas. An unidentified coach cast the Longhorns into the No. 1 slot in this year's preseason poll. To which we say – WTF! |
Grinding Out The Profits Left-Handedness |
The New York Yankees have devoured southpaws, going 140-75 since the 2018 season, including 25-9 this campaign. NYY hurler Nestor Cortes is 6-1 against AL West foes, including 3-0 this season. Meanwhile, last year's CY Young award winner Robbie Ray appears to have slipped on a banana peel of late, going 0-3 with an 8.11 ERA and a 2.12 WHIP in his last three starts. We'll fade the double-dealing M's this afternoon. |
