    The Spotlight Is On...
Playbook Expert Jeff Hochman of JH Sportsline thinks the Utah Utes are in prime position to win the Pac-12 title once again.

Utah led the nation in most starts by underclassmen in 2021. That bodes very well going forward. Kyle Whittingham is a great teacher and leader since arriving in 2004. His career record is 144-66 and is the all-time leader in wins at Utah.

Junior QB Cameron Risingreturns after leading the offense to a Pac-12 Championship. He passed for 2,943 yards with 20 TD's and just 5 interceptions. Tavion Thomas (1,108 rushing yards, 21 TD's) and Micah Bernard (523 rushing yards, 2 TD's) return to form a lethal 1-2 punch in the backfield.

The defense was terrific ranking No. 21 last season at Football Outsiders. I think they will be even better this season. He would not completely rule out a trip to the college football playoff!

It was with much sadness we learned of the passing of legendary broadcaster Vin Scully, 94, on Tuesday.

Whatever bar is set for greatness in broadcasting, Scully set it. He put transistor radios on the map as fans were glued to listening to his dulcet delivery of Dodgers games.

As Kendall Baker of Axios Sports puts it, he provided the soundtrack of summer for Dodgers fans for 67 seasons and called baseball games in a way that made it feel like he was sitting in your living room.

Little known fact: Scully lost to Pat Summerallin a tryout at CBS to call NFL games alongside John Madden. He it fueled his passion to become the best.

He went on to become an icon.

We'll close it out like Scully opened every one of his broadcasts...

"Hi everybody, and a very pleasant good evening to you wherever you may be."

New head coach Joe Moorheadbrings new life to the Zips. In their 30 years as a member of the MAC, the Zips have one conference title in 2005. Moorhead was Akron's QB coach that season.

Along with Moorhead, the Zips welcomes 17 returning starters as optimism begins to rise in the Rubber City.
