    Re: MLB Betting Info. 6/21

    Preview: Phillies at Twins

Weather information is currently unavailable. 5-Day Forecast
GAME: Philadelphia Phillies (30-41) at Minnesota Twins (21-48)
    DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 21 - 8:10 PM EST
    WHERE: Target Field, Minneapolis, Minnesota
    LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Philadelphia Phillies are in a deep decline and look to end a seven-game losing streak when they visit the even more woeful Minnesota Twins in Tuesday's opener of a three-game series. Minnesota owns the worst record (21-48) in the majors while Philadelphia is just 6-24 since being seven games above .500.

The Phillies were outscored 42-9 during a winless six-game homestand -- ending with a 3-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday -- for their worst homestand since the disastrous 0-7 span from Sept. 21-27, 1964 that cost the team the National League pennant. "Terrible homestand," Philadelphia manager Pete Mackanin told reporters after the loss to Arizona. "It's hard to stay patient. I'm not giving up. Alternative is to give up or not fight ... on a scale of 1 to 10, I'm a 9 in frustration." The Twins halted a five-game losing streak with Sunday's 7-4 victory over the New York Yankees but may be headed to their second 100-loss campaign in 56 seasons in Minnesota. The Twins lost the first nine games of the season and later suffered through an eight-game skid to culminate an 8-26 start to the highly disappointing campaign.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies RH Aaron Nola (5-6, 3.51 ERA) vs. Twins RH Tyler Duffey (2-6, 5.56)

Nola has lost consecutive starts in which he pitched fewer than four innings in each. He allowed 12 runs (10 earned) and 15 hits in 6 2/3 innings during the stretch after giving up two or fewer earned runs in each of his previous five turns. Nola has pitched well on the road by going 3-1 with a 2.27 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in seven starts.

Duffey has fallen on hard times and is 0-3 with an 8.55 ERA over his last four starts. He has given up at least four earned runs in six consecutive starts as a once-spectacular 1.85 ERA through four outings has soared skyward. Duffey is 1-3 with a 6.67 ERA in five home starts this season after going 3-0 with a 1.50 ERA in four outings last season after being recalled in early August.

    WALK-OFFS

    1. Rookie Twins RF Max Kepler went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs in Sunday's victory and is 8-for-21 with a blast and four doubles during a six-game hitting streak.

    2. Philadelphia SS Freddy Galvis is mired in a 6-for-70 funk, while 1B Tommy Joseph is 1-for-31 over his past eight games.

    3. Minnesota OF/DH Miguel Sano (hamstring) could begin a minor-league rehab stint later this week - he was injured on May 31.

    PREDICTION: Twins 8, Phillies 7

        Preview: Brewers at Athletics

Weather information is currently unavailable. 5-Day Forecast
GAME: Milwaukee Brewers (31-39) at Oakland Athletics (28-41)
        DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 21 - 10:05 PM EST
        WHERE: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California
        LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Milwaukee Brewers make their first visit to Oakland in 14 years when they limp into the Coliseum to meet the Athletics on Tuesday in the first contest of a two-game interleague series. Milwaukee (31-39) is 1-6 on its nine-game trip through California after dropping the last three contests of a four-game set at Dodger Stadium while Oakland (28-41) is 2-5 on a nine-game homestand and scored five runs in its last four games.

Both teams struggle to get batters out as the Athletics own the second-worst ERA in the American League at 4.69 while the Brewers are third-worst in the National League at 4.60 with the starters' numbers even higher at 5.18 and 4.84, respectively. The clubs appear to be in position to acquire young arms as sellers prior to next month's trade deadline with the New York Mets reportedly already inquiring about Oakland third baseman Danny Valencia (.326, 10 home runs, 27 RBIs). The Athletics are expected to have Khris Davis (16 home runs, 45 RBIs) in Tuesday's lineup as the ex-Brewer did not play Sunday after he was removed from Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels with a calf injury. Oakland's Sonny Gray is winless in his last eight starts (0-5) and opposes Jimmy Nelson, who has lost three straight.

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee), CSN California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Jimmy Nelson (5-6, 3.92 ERA) vs. Athletics RH Sonny Gray (3-6, 5.54)

Nelson allowed eight runs (six earned), eight hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings of a 10-1 loss at San Francisco on Wednesday, raising his ERA 1.04 since his last victory May 29. "It’s very frustrating for me,” the 27-year-old Oregon native told reporters. “The last three (starts) have been completely unacceptable. ... We’ve looked over video from my good starts early and the last couple, and mechanically there’s really not that much difference. That tells you that it’s the mind-set of just keeping the ball down.” Nelson, who has never faced Oakland, is 1-3 with a 6.30 ERA in six road starts this season.

Gray pitched five shutout innings before yielding five runs in the sixth inning and earning a no-decision in the Athletics' 7-5 loss to Texas on Wednesday. "Up until that inning, as good of stuff as we've seen all year,'' Oakland manager Bob Melvin told reporters about the 26-year-old Tennessee native, who was third in the 2015 AL Cy Young award voting and 3-1 with a 2.73 ERA after four starts this season. "He was in command. He was throwing everything for strikes. You're counting pitches to see if he can get all the way through the game, so it was a bit startling." Gray, who has never faced Milwaukee, is 2-3 with a 5.30 ERA in six home starts this season.

        WALK-OFFS

        1. Valencia is batting .338 with 10 home runs and 25 RBIs in 35 games since being reinstated from the disabled list May 6.

        2. The Brewers swept a two-game series earlier this month as 1B Chris Carter (18 home runs, 43 RBIs) went deep twice and drove in five runs.

        3. Oakland RHP Ryan Dull has stranded all 29 of his inherited runners this season while opponents are 1-for-39 with runners in scoring position against him.

            Preview: Nationals at Dodgers

Weather information is currently unavailable. 5-Day Forecast
GAME: Washington Nationals (43-28) at Los Angeles Dodgers (39-33)
            DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 21 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
            LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Justin Turner has located the power switch and ignited the Los Angeles Dodgers' offense in the process. After belting his fourth homer in as many outings, Turner carries an eight-game hitting streak into the second contest of the three-game series against the visiting Washington Nationals on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old is 14-for-30 with five home runs, 11 RBIs and six runs scored during that stretch for the Dodgers, who have won four in a row and six of seven to move within 5 1/2 games of National League West-leading San Francisco. Joc Pederson also went deep in Monday's 4-1 victory and has five homers in the last nine contests for Los Angeles, which looks to hand NL East-leading Washington its fourth straight loss. Daniel Murphy has overcome a small stumble out to begin June, hitting safely in five straight and 10 of his last 12. The 31-year-old is batting a majors-best .356 and is 2-for-5 with three strikeouts in a small sample size versus Tuesday starter Scott Kazmir.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, MASN (Washington), Sportsnet Los Angeles

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Tanner Roark (6-4, 3.14 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Scott Kazmir (5-3, 4.64)

Roark improved to 3-0 in his last four outings despite yielding four runs on seven hits in six innings of an 8-5 victory over San Diego on Thursday. The 29-year-old has worked at least six frames in 11 of his 14 starts this season - including five of his last six. Roark has yet to record a decision in two relief appearances versus the Los Angeles Dodgers, but has subdued veteran Chase Utley (1-for-10) in his career.

Kazmir saw his pitch count elevate and lead to an early exit Thursday as he yielded three runs on five hits in four innings of a no-decision versus Milwaukee. The 32-year-old has struggled with his control in each of the last two appearances, including a five-walk performance against San Francisco on June 11. Kazmir pitched significantly better in his most recent outing versus Washington, picking up the win after scattering four hits without walking a batter in seven scoreless innings.

            WALK-OFFS

            1. Los Angeles OF Yasiel Puig (strained left hamstring) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Tuesday.

            2. Washington 1B Ryan Zimmerman has struck out at least once in 10 straight outings.

            3. Dodgers rookie SS Corey Seager has recorded three consecutive multi-hit performances during his five-game hitting streak.

            PREDICTION: Dodgers 4, Nationals 2
