      Preview: Phillies at Blue Jays

      Current Conditions - Toronto

      P/SUNNY 82 °F
      Wind: W 24
      5-Day Forecast
GAME: Philadelphia Phillies (29-34) at Toronto Blue Jays (35-30)
      DATE/TIME: Monday, June 13 - 7:07 PM EST
      WHERE: Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario
      LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Toronto Blue Jays are beginning to look more like the lethal offensive team they were a season ago while climbing toward the top of the American League East. The Blue Jays have posted 37 runs in their last five contests as they prepare to host the struggling Philadelphia Phillies on Monday to begin a four-game, home-and-home interleague set.

Edwin Encarnacion went 6-for-12 with three homers and seven RBIs over the last three contests for Toronto while teammates Kevin Pillar (11-for-23) and Michael Saunders (11-for-22) have each hit safely in six straight outings. The Blue Jays triumphed in the final three games of their series with Baltimore and hope to take advantage of the Phillies, who have dropped four in a row and 13 of 16. Philadelphia is 4-2 in interleague play, but is coming off a tough 5-4 loss at Washington on Sunday when it gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth after scoring in the top half of the frame. The Phillies have given up 30 runs during the last four games.

TV: 7:07 p.m. ET, CSN Philadelphia, Sportsnet (Toronto)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies RH Jerad Eickhoff (3-8, 3.68 ERA) vs. Blue Jays RH R.A. Dickey (4-6, 4.15)

Eickhoff won for the second time in his last four outings on Tuesday, limiting the Chicago Cubs to one run on two hits with eight strikeouts over seven innings. The 25-year-old Indiana native has held 10 of his 12 opponents to three earned runs or fewer and struck out at least seven on five occasions. Eickhoff makes his first career start versus Toronto and is 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA in two interleague games.

Dickey has won two consecutive starts, allowing three runs (two earned) and 11 hits over 12 innings to beat two strong hitting teams – Boston and Detroit. The 41-year-old knuckleballer has struggled at home, though, going 0-4 with a 5.55 ERA in six starts while permitting seven homers. Freddy Galvis is 4-for-12 with a homer against Dickey, who is 5-4 with a 3.03 ERA in 12 career outings versus the Phillies.

      WALK-OFFS

      1. Toronto RF Jose Bautista (thigh) is day-to-day after missing the last three games as he remains two homers shy of 300 for his career.

      2. Philadelphia 3B Maikel Franco went 4-for-7 with a homer in the two games over the weekend after going 3-for-21 in his previous six.

      3. The teams split four meetings last season after the Blue Jays had won the previous eight encounters.

PREDICTION: Blue Jays 6, Phillies 3

          Preview: Reds at Braves

          Current Conditions - Atlanta

          P/SUNNY 95 °F
          Wind: WNW 8
          5-Day Forecast
GAME: Cincinnati Reds (24-39) at Atlanta Braves (18-44)
          DATE/TIME: Monday, June 13 - 7:10 PM EST
          WHERE: Turner Field, Atlanta, Georgia
          LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Jay Bruce nearly was dealt in the offseason and will be one of the more sought-after names leading up to the July 31 trade deadline, but for now the Cincinnati Reds’ right fielder is enjoying a resurgent campaign. Bruce leads the Reds into Atlanta for Monday’s opener of a four-game series with the Braves, and while both teams are buried in last place in their respective divisions, Bruce comes in hitting .271 with 14 homers and a team-high 44 RBIs.

Bruce hit just .226 a year ago but leads the National League with five triples, but the Reds have allowed double-digit hits four times in the past seven games and sit 20 games behind the Cubs in the NL Central. The series matches two of the worst bullpens in baseball: Cincinnati enters the series with a relievers’ ERA of 6.48, while Braves’ bullpen gave up 13 runs on 18 hits in the past two games, raising their ERA to 4.66. Atlanta holds the majors’ worst record at 18-44 and dropped two of three against the Chicago Cubs over the weekend. Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman is slumping, hitting .174 in his past 19 games with four extra-base hits and 23 strikeouts.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), FSN Southeast (Atlanta)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Daniel Wright (0-2, 7.20 ERA) vs. Braves RH Aaron Blair (0-4, 7.13)

Wright is one of nine Reds to make his major-league debut this season, his only start coming in a May 24 defeat at the Dodgers in which he allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. The 25-year-old has made two relief appearances since, allowing seven runs (five earned) in 4 2/3 innings. Wright is 3-0 with a 0.79 ERA in 10 minor-league appearances (four starts) this season and earned his promotion with a three-hitter on May 16 for Triple-A Louisville.

Blair makes his ninth major-league start and the rookie looks to build off decent efforts in two of his past three outings. He got a no-decision in both, giving up two runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings May 28 against Miami and holding San Diego to two runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings Tuesday. The 24-year-old has allowed three earned runs or fewer in six of his first eight big-league turns, but his ERA ballooned by allowing 15 runs in 5 1/3 innings in losses to Pittsburgh and San Francisco.

          WALK-OFFS

          1. The Braves have won eight of their past 12 home games in this series and are 40-25 overall at Turner Field against the Reds.

          2. Atlanta activated SS Erick Aybar (right foot contusion) from the disabled list before Sunday’s game; Aybar, who hit .276 in 10 seasons with the Angels, is batting .184.

          3. Cincinnati C Ramon Cabrera went 2-for-3 Sunday and is hitting .347 while collecting at least one hit in six of his last seven contests.

          PREDICTION: Braves 4, Reds 2

              Re: MLB Betting Info. 6/13

              Preview: Tigers at White Sox

Weather information is currently unavailable. 5-Day Forecast
GAME: Detroit Tigers (32-30) at Chicago White Sox (31-32)
              DATE/TIME: Monday, June 13 - 8:10 PM EST
WHERE: U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago, Illinois
              LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

It wasn't all that long ago the Detroit Tigers appeared much closer to the cellar in the American League Central than the penthouse, but some inspired play combined with the recent failings of their division rivals have them closing the gap quickly. The Tigers eye their eighth win in 10 tries Monday when they begin a three-game road set with the spiraling Chicago White Sox.

Detroit fell to 15-21 and trailed Chicago by 8 1/2 games after suffering its fourth straight defeat on May 14, but the Tigers' offense started to catch fire following the return of Cameron Maybin two days later. Although Maybin has cooled a bit from his torrid start, Ian Kinsler has made up for it by batting ,347 with seven home runs, 25 RBIs and 23 runs scored in the 24 games he has played since the Tigers' dreadful 15-21 beginning to the season. Detroit, which is tied for second place in the Central with Kansas City -- three games behind Cleveland -- outscored the White Sox 22-9 at home during a three-game sweep from June 3-5 and will attempt to prolong the misery of Chicago, which has dropped 22 of 30 since building a six-game division lead with a 23-10 start. The White Sox fell to 3-7 in June following Sunday's 3-1 home setback against the Royals - the sixth time this month they have scored three or fewer runs.
TV: 8:10 p.m. ET, FSN Detroit, WPWR (Chicago)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Tigers LH Matt Boyd (0-1, 3.38 ERA) vs. White Sox RH James Shields (2-8, 5.06)
Boyd flirted with danger against Toronto on Tuesday, working around three hits and a career-high five walks across 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision. The 25-year-old Oregon State product has yet to produce a quality start in any of his first three turns this season and is still searching for his first win since making his Detroit debut last August with seven strong innings against Kansas City. Boyd is 0-3 with a 10.17 ERA in seven career appearances (six starts) on the road entering his first start against the White Sox.
Shields turned in a disastrous first outing with Chicago following his June 4 trade from San Diego, giving up seven runs - including three homers - on eight hits and two walks over two-plus innings in Wednesday's 11-4 loss to Washington. The 2011 All-Star was even worse in his final outing with the Padres, surrendering 10 runs in 2 2/3 innings en route to another defeat at Seattle on May 31. Shields has made 12 starts at U.S. Cellular Field, going 4-2 with a 3.77 ERA.

              WALK-OFFS
              1. Detroit 1B Miguel Cabrera became the fifth-youngest player (at 33 years, 55 days old) to reach 2,400 career hits, trailing only Hall of Famers Ty Cobb, Rogers Hornsby, Hank Aaron and Robin Yount.
              2. The White Sox have lost 11 of their last 12 against divisional opponents.
              3. Tigers DH Victor Martinez is batting .393 with five home runs and 18 RBIs in 32 games on the road this season.

PREDICTION: Tigers 7, White Sox 4

                  Preview: Indians at Royals

Weather information is currently unavailable. 5-Day Forecast
GAME: Cleveland Indians (35-27) at Kansas City Royals (32-30)
                  DATE/TIME: Monday, June 13 - 8:15 PM EST

The defending World Series champions are still trying to find some more offense but are at least getting enough pitching to earn some wins. The Kansas City Royals will try to push their winning streak to three in a row when they host the Cleveland Indians on Monday in the opener of a three-game series.

The Royals began a disastrous 10-game road trip at Cleveland on June 2 and totaled six runs while dropping four straight to the Indians. Kansas City went on to lose four more while putting up 13 total runs in the eight-game slide before stealing a pair of wins at the Chicago White Sox over the weekend behind strong efforts from starters Danny Duffy and Yordano Ventura. Cleveland has won nine of its last 12 including that sweep of the Royals to move three games ahead of Kansas City and Detroit in the American League Central. The Indians are coming back from the west coast after taking four of seven from the Seattle Mariners and the Los Angeles Angels to begin the 10-game trip.

TV: 8:15 p.m. ET, SportsTime Ohio (Cleveland), FSN Kansas City

PITCHING MATCHUP: Indians RH Carlos Carrasco (2-1, 3.48 ERA) vs. Royals RH Edinson Volquez (5-6, 4.25)

Carrasco is making his third start since recovering from a hamstring injury that left him on the disabled list for over a month. The Venezuela native hasn’t been at his best since his return, allowing a total of seven runs and 14 hits in 11 2/3 innings, and surrendered a pair of home runs in a loss at Seattle on Wednesday. Carrasco made his return against Kansas City on June 2 with a no decision and is 6-4 with a 3.68 ERA in 17 career games against the Royals.

Volquez went four scoreless innings at Baltimore on Wednesday but was reached for four runs in the fifth to suffer his second straight loss. The Dominican Republic native is having trouble getting any support from his offense and received a total of one run in his last two turns. Volquez started at Cleveland on June 3 and permitted five runs on seven hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings.

                  WALK-OFFS

                  1. Indians 1B Carlos Santana is 5-for-12 with two home runs, two doubles and five RBIs in the last three games.

                  2. Royals 3B Cheslor Cuthbert went 4-for-7 with a pair of home runs in the last two games.

                  3. Cleveland 1B Mike Napoli has hit safely in 10 of 11 games this month, including 6-for-14 with four RBIs against Kansas City.

                  PREDICTION: Indians 5, Royals 2

                      Preview: Dodgers at Diamondbacks

                      Current Conditions - Phoenix

                      SUNNY 90 °F
                      Wind: N 5
                      5-Day Forecast
GAME: Los Angeles Dodgers (33-31) at Arizona Diamondbacks (28-37)
                      DATE/TIME: Monday, June 13 - 9:40 PM EST
                      WHERE: Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona

Arizona ace Zack Greinke faces his former team for the first time this season Monday as the Diamondbacks begin a three-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. The Diamondbacks took two of three against Miami over the weekend but still have plenty of work ahead of them in the NL West, where they trail first-place San Francisco by 10 1/2 games.

The Dodgers are five games back of the Giants and need more production from an offense that continues to struggle. Third baseman Justin Turner’s frustration simmered over in Sunday’s 2-1 loss to San Francisco as the veteran went 0-for-4 was ejected for arguing a called third strike in the eighth inning. The Dodgers have won 12 of their last 20 games largely thanks to their starting rotation, but their offense could receive a spark this week with the expected return of right fielder Yasiel Puig, who will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga on Monday. Arizona is hoping for a similar boost from rookie outfielder Peter O’Brien, who belted his first career homer in Sunday’s 6-0 victory over Miami.

TV: 9:40 p.m. ET, SportsNet LA (Los Angeles), FSN Arizona

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers RH Mike Bolsinger (1-3, 5.75 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks RH Zack Greinke (8-3, 3.84)

Bolsinger is looking to bounce back after allowing six runs on seven hits while throwing 85 pitches over 5 1/3 innings in last Monday’s 6-1 loss to Colorado. The 28-year-old has not completed six innings in any of his first four starts and has allowed a total of five home runs over that stretch. Jean Segura is 5-for-8 against Bolsinger, who has gone 1-0 with a 3.07 ERA in three career starts against his former team.

After a rough first few weeks with his new club, Greinke has gone 5-0 with a 1.95 ERA over his last five starts and brings a 16-inning scoreless streak into Monday’s game. The 2009 AL Cy Young award winner threw a complete game shutout and allowed three hits and two walks in Tuesday’s 5-0 victory over Tampa Bay. Chase Utley is 4-for-12 with a home run against Greinke, who is 2-0 with 2.52 ERA in four career starts against the Dodgers, his team from 2013-15.

                      WALK-OFFS

                      1. Arizona 1B Paul Goldschmidt is 12-for-27 during his seven-game hitting streak.

                      2. Dodgers LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) gave up two runs (one earned) over three innings in a minor league rehab start with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

                      3. Arizona closer Brad Ziegler has recorded a club-record 40 consecutive saves.

                      PREDICTION: Diamondbacks 7, Dodgers 2

The Los Angeles Angels got a big scare on Sunday when Mike Trout left the game after being hit by a pitch, but it looks like the former MVP won’t miss much time. Trout is expected to be back in the lineup on Monday when the Angels host Minnesota Twins in the opener of a three-game series.

Trout took a fastball from Tommy Hunter off the thumb in the eighth inning of Sunday’s 8-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians but was diagnosed with a contusion after x-rays came back negative. "I'm just glad it's not broken," Trout told reporters. "When you're hit in the hand or you're hit in the finger, it's a scary thing." The Twins should be riding a nice momentum wave into California after avoiding a sweep on Sunday with a walk-off win over the Boston Red Sox. Rookie Max Kepler came up with two runners on in the bottom of the 10th and belted his first career home run over the fence in center to snap Minnesota’s three-game slide.

10:05 p.m. ET, FSN North (Minnesota), FSN West (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH Ricky Nolasco (2-4, 5.17 ERA) vs. Angels RH Jered Weaver (5-5, 5.56)

Nolasco had a string of two straight quality starts come to an abrupt end against Miami on Wednesday, when he was reached for five runs and 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings. The 33-year-old allowed a total of four earned runs and nine hits over 13 2/3 innings in his previous two starts. Nolasco started against the Angels at home on April 16 and was reached for four runs and nine hits in seven innings without factoring in the decision.

Weaver continues to operate with diminished velocity and gets hit hard when he misses his location. The Long Beach State product was ripped for six runs and nine hits – two home runs – in 5 1/3 innings to suffer a loss at the New York Yankees on Wednesday and surrendered at least one homer in each of his last seven starts. Weaver went up against Nolasco on April 16, permitting four runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings without being involved in the decision.

                          WALK-OFFS

                          1. The Twins claimed veteran RHP Neil Ramirez off waivers and expect to have him in uniform on Monday.

                          2. Los Angeles LHP Jose Alvarez is day-to-day after taking a comebacker off the left shin on Sunday.

                          3. Minnesota CF Byron Buxton is 1-for-20 with 10 strikeouts in his last six games.

The first-place Texas Rangers have dominated opponents in the American League West this season, with the one exception being last-place Oakland. The visiting Rangers will try to get back at the Athletics when the teams begin a three-game series Monday night.

Texas topped Seattle by a 6-4 margin on Sunday to claim two of three with its closest competitor in the division race and improve to 23-12 against AL West teams. Three of those 12 setbacks came last month against Oakland in the only series between teams this season, but the Rangers are 17-5 since that sweep at the hands of the Athletics and own a season-high five-game division lead. Yu Darvish was lined up to start for Texas on Monday but will return home for an exam after he reported tightness and soreness in his shoulder and neck. Reliever Cesar Ramos is expected to get the nod against Oakland, which salvaged the finale of a weekend set in Cincinnati with a 6-1 win on Sunday to snap a seven-game skid.

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, FSN Southwest (Texas), CSN California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers LH Cesar Ramos (1-2, 3.58 ERA) vs. Athletics LH Sean Manaea (2-4, 6.20)

Ramos has pitched just twice out of the bullpen since making a spot start at Houston on May 21, when he allowed one run and two hits to pick up the win. He owns a 2.76 ERA in three starts this season and has allowed two runs in 13 1/3 innings on the road overall. If Ramos is kept in the bullpen, veteran Kyle Lohse - who has made five starts for Triple-A Round Rock - is another option to get the start.

Manaea allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings to defeat the Rangers on May 16, the first of five straight starts in which he has lasted at least six frames. He gave up five runs in seven innings in a loss at Milwaukee on June 7. The 24-year-old is 2-2 with a 3.55 ERA in his last four home starts, surrendering just one home run in 25 1/3 innings over that span.

                              WALK-OFFS

                              1. Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre has missed four straight games due to a hamstring injury.

                              2. Oakland 3B Danny Valencia is hitting .450 with four homers and four doubles over his last 11 games.

                              3. Texas 1B Mitch Moreland had three home runs over the weekend at Seattle and has six extra-base hits during a five-game hitting streak.

                              PREDICTION: Rangers 6, Athletics 5
