    Preview: Diamondbacks at Rockies

Weather information is currently unavailable. 5-Day Forecast
GAME: Arizona Diamondbacks (16-18) at Colorado Rockies (15-17)
    DATE/TIME: Tuesday, May 10 - 8:40 PM EST
    WHERE: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado
    LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Arizona Diamondbacks look to match their longest winning streak of the season when they visit the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game set. Arizona topped Colorado 10-5 in the series opener for its fourth straight victory - one shy of the five-game run it posted from April 17-21.

Jake Lamb homered and drove in four runs Monday as he recorded his third consecutive two-hit performance. Monday's loss was the third in four games for Colorado, which returned home from a 6-4 road trip that began with a three-game sweep in Arizona. Trevor Story is riding a five-game hitting streak after going 2-for-5 with three RBIs in the series opener. The 23-year-old shortstop, who was a first-round pick in the 2011 draft, leads all major-league rookies with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs.

TV: 8:40 p.m. ET, FSN Arizona, ROOT (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Rubby De La Rosa (3-4, 4.60 ERA) vs. Rockies LH Chris Rusin (1-0, 4.43)

De La Rosa had his three-start winning streak snapped Wednesday as he yielded four runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings at Miami. That outing came on the heels of a superb effort from the 27-year-old Dominican, who allowed two hits and struck out 10 over seven scoreless frames in defeating St. Louis. De La Rosa is 3-1 with a 3.94 ERA in seven career games - five starts - against Colorado.

Rusin will be making his third consecutive start after appearing out of the bullpen four times to begin the season. The 29-year-old native of Detroit was pounded in his last outing but escaped with a no-decision after surrendering seven runs and 13 hits over 4 1/3 innings at San Francisco on Thursday. Rusin is 2-1 with a 1.71 ERA in four career starts against the Diamondbacks, including an outing in Arizona on April 30 in which he gave up one hit over five scoreless frames but did not factor in the decision.

    WALK-OFFS

    1. Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt enters Tuesday with a 42-game on-base streak against the Rockies.

    2. Colorado LHP Jorge De La Rosa (groin) allowed two runs - one earned - and three hits over four innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

    3. Arizona C Welington Castillo is riding a five-game hitting streak during which he has recorded seven RBIs.

    PREDICTION: Rockies 7, Diamondbacks 5

      Preview: Cardinals at Angels

Weather information is currently unavailable. 5-Day Forecast
GAME: St. Louis Cardinals (16-16) at Los Angeles Angels (13-18)
      DATE/TIME: Tuesday, May 10 - 10:05 PM EST
WHERE: Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, California
      LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Los Angeles Angels can't absorb many more injuries if they are to continue entertaining thoughts of winning the American League West title as they resume their six-game homestand with three versus the St. Louis Cardinals beginning Tuesday. Los Angeles shortstop Andrelton Simmons left Sunday's game - a 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay that completed a sweep - with a thumb injury that requires surgery as he joins ace Garrett Richards and closer Huston Street on the disabled list.

"I wouldn't say (injuries) are derailing our season because it's May, and we have a lot of baseball left," Angels center fielder Mike Trout told reporters. "But you lose your starting shortstop, your ace, a bunch of pitchers, your closer … it's a tough stretch, but you can't hang your heads." Los Angeles (13-18), which has lost seven of its last nine, is also without left-handers C.J. Wilson (shoulder) and Andrew Heaney (forearm) - leaving Tuesday starter Hector Santiago and Jered Weaver as the only pitchers remaining in the rotation manager Mike Scioscia put together in spring training. St. Louis (16-16) completed a 4-6 homestand with a 10-5 loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday and is beginning to lose touch with the white-hot Chicago Cubs in the National League Central. The Cardinals give the ball to Mike Leake, who is still searching for his first victory in a St. Louis uniform after signing a five-year contract worth at least $75 million during the offseason.

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, FSN Midwest (St. Louis), FSN West (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Mike Leake (0-3, 6.03 ERA) vs. Angels LH Hector Santiago (2-1, 3.58)

Leake continues to hurt himself with big innings as he's allowed three or more runs in an inning four times. The 28-year-old Californian recorded his third no-decision of the season after yielding four runs - three in the fourth inning - in five frames of St. Louis' 5-4 victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday. Leake has never faced Los Angeles and won't have to deal with Simmons, who was 7-for-16 with a home run against him while with Atlanta.

Santiago received a no-decision after permitting three runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings of the Angels' 7-3 victory in Milwaukee on Wednesday. The 28-year-old New Jersey native was sharp in consecutive victories over AL division leaders Chicago and Seattle before allowing four runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 4-2 loss at Texas on April 29. Santiago, who has pitched at least 5 1/3 innings in each of his six starts this season, has never faced St. Louis.

      WALK-OFFS

      1. Angels 1B/DH Albert Pujols (.190, six home runs, 18 RBIs) continues to spin his wheels as he went 1-for-13 in his last four games after going 7-for-20 with a home run and three RBIs during a five-game hitting streak.

      2. Cardinals rookie SS Aledmys Diaz (.396) is 7-for-16 during a four-game hitting streak while RF Stephen Piscotty (team-high 21 RBIs) is 13-for-29 with six RBIs over his last seven contests, raising his average 39 points to .323.

      3. Los Angeles 3B and lead-off hitter Yunel Escobar (.301) is 12-for-31 in his last eight games.

      PREDICTION: Cardinals 3, Angels 2

        Preview: Rays at Mariners

        Current Conditions - Seattle

        5-Day Forecast
GAME: Tampa Bay Rays (15-15) at Seattle Mariners (19-13)

        WHERE: Safeco Field, Seattle, Washington
        LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Second baseman Robinson Cano has been carrying the Seattle offense but it was his double-play partner that delivered the damage in Monday's series-opening contest against the Tampa Bay Rays. Shortstop Ketel Marte had a career-best four hits, including a tiebreaking three-run homer, in a 5-2 victory and the Mariners will look to post their 15th win in 20 games when they host the Rays again Tuesday.

Marte also doubled twice, scored three runs and his three RBIs matched his career best in his top outing of the campaign. Cano was a quiet 1-for-5 while extending his hitting streak to nine games and was named American League Player of the Week earlier Monday after going 16-for-31 with four homers and nine RBIs last week. Tampa Bay had its four-game winning streak halted in the opener and is 3-1 on a six-game road trip that began in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels. Third baseman Evan Longoria hit a solo homer Monday for his third blast in eight games as he attempts to overcome a slow start.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, FSN Sun (Tampa Bay), ROOT (Seattle)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rays LH Drew Smyly (1-3, 2.72 ERA) vs. Mariners LH Wade Miley (2-2, 4.74)

Smyly has allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his past five outings even if victories have been hard to come by. He has struck out 47 hitters while walking just eight and has limited opposing batters to a .167 average. Smyly is 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA in five career appearances (two starts) against Seattle and has fared well against designated hitter Nelson Cruz (2-for-13) and Cano (0-for-6).

Miley received a no-decision against Houston in his last start as he allowed two runs and five hits in six innings. He tossed his first career shutout in his previous outing when he limited Kansas City to five hits without walking a batter. Miley is 3-2 with a 2.38 ERA in seven career starts against Tampa Bay and has allowed two homers to Longoria (5-for-19).

        WALK-OFFS

        1. Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) departed in the third inning of the opener and is questionable for Tuesday's game.

        2. Tampa Bay CF Kevin Kiermaier was hitless in four at-bats Monday and is 1-for-15 over the first four games of the road trip.

        3. Cruz struck out three times and had a sacrifice fly in the opener and is 1-for-16 with seven strikeouts over the past four games.

        PREDICTION: Mariners 4, Rays 3

GAME: New York Mets (20-11) at Los Angeles Dodgers (16-16)
          DATE/TIME: Tuesday, May 10 - 10:10 PM EST

The New York Mets ousted the Los Angeles Dodgers from the playoffs last season and posted another victory in their initial meeting of this campaign. New York registered a 4-2 victory in the series opener and aims to record another win when they visit the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Mets left fielder Yoenis Cespedes had a run-scoring single in Monday's game to raise his National League-leading RBI total to 31. The red-hot Cespedes has 10 homers and 28 RBIs over his past 19 games and has nine multiple-RBI outings so far this season. Los Angeles will attempt to solve New York's Jason deGrom on Tuesday after the right-hander went 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA in two starts in last season's National League Division Series. The Dodgers have lost nine of their last 13 games and have scored three runs or fewer in eight of the nine defeats.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, SNY (New York), SportsNet LA (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Jacob deGrom (3-1, 1.99 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Alex Wood (1-3, 5.18)

DeGrom suffered his first defeat of the season in his last turn when he gave up three runs and eight hits in five innings against San Diego. He allowed two total earned runs over his first three starts of the campaign before not having his best stuff against the Padres. The 27-year-old deGrom is 0-2 with a 3.66 ERA in three regular-season starts against the Dodgers and has been ineffective against first baseman Adrian Gonzalez (3-for-8, two homers).

Wood is winless in his past four starts and served up three homers while losing to Tampa Bay in his last outing. He has pitched well in each of his two home outings, allowing one run on both occasions while beating Arizona and receiving a no-decision against San Diego. Wood is 0-3 with a 4.35 ERA in seven career starts against the Mets and has experienced issues retiring third baseman David Wright (3-for-7).

          WALK-OFFS

          1. Mets RF Curtis Granderson homered on Monday's first pitch — the 37th leadoff blast of his career.

          2. Los Angeles RF Yasiel Puig was hitless in four at-bats in the opener and is 1-for-13 over the past four contests.

          3. New York leads the majors with 49 homers — the highest total in franchise history through 31 games.

          PREDICTION: Dodgers 3, Mets 1

            Preview: Blue Jays at Giants

Weather information is currently unavailable. 5-Day Forecast
GAME: Toronto Blue Jays (17-17) at San Francisco Giants (17-17)
            DATE/TIME: Tuesday, May 10 - 10:15 PM EST

Interleague play might not be the instant elixir for San Francisco Giants’ struggling offense, after all. The Giants, who have scored a total of three runs over their last three contests, continue their three-game series against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays hoping to get untracked after recording four hits in Monday's 3-1 loss.

Second baseman Joe Panik is 0-for-12 in the last three games for San Francisco, which is 2-for-21 with runners in scoring position over that stretch. The Giants have dropped four of their last six and clearly miss left fielder Angel Pagan, who has missed the last eight games with a hamstring strain but hopes to return for Thursday’s series opener at Arizona. The Blue Jays moved back to .500 on Monday after manager John Gibbons made a few changes to the team’s ineffective bullpen. Gibbons said he is removing struggling relievers Drew Storen and Brett Cecil from high-leverage situations while giving Gavin Floyd and Jesse Chavez the opportunity to handle the setup duties for closer Roberto Osuna.

TV: 10:15 p.m. ET, Sportsnet (Toronto), CSN Bay Area (San Francisco)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays LH J.A. Happ (4-0, 2.50 ERA) vs. Giants RH Matt Cain (0-4, 7.84)

Happ continued his strong start Thursday with seven innings of one-run ball against Texas and has allowed no more than three runs in 16 consecutive outings since Aug. 14. “His confidence is through the roof,” Toronto pitching coach Pete Walker told the Toronto Star. “I think he feels like he finally understands his game completely.” The 33-year-old has pitched at least six innings in all six of his starts this season and has gone 4-5 with a 5.04 ERA in 15 career interleague games (14 starts).

Cain dropped to 0-4 for the first time in his career Thursday as Colorado pummeled the 31-year-old for eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits over four innings. The three-time All-Star owns a 9-1 record with a 3.01 ERA in 324 career interleague starts, including 7 2/3 strong innings in his only previous start against Toronto on June 19, 2010. Troy Tulowitzki is 21-for-64 with five home runs against Cain, who has allowed 44 hits and 27 earned runs in 31 innings over his first six starts this season.

            WALK-OFFS

            1. Toronto 3B Edwin Encarnacion is batting .336 against San Francisco in 33 career games.

            2. The Giants optioned OF Mac Williamson to Triple-A Sacramento and recalled OF Jarrett Parker.

            3. Toronto placed Cecil on the paternity leave list and recalled RHP Ryan Tepera from Triple-A Buffalo.

PREDICTION: Blue Jays 7, Giants 3
