    Re: MLB Betting Info. 4/16

    Preview: Orioles at Rangers
GAME: Baltimore Orioles (8-2) at Texas Rangers (6-6)
    DATE/TIME: Saturday, April 16 – 8:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas
    LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A
Mark Trumbo has fit right in with the free-swinging Baltimore Orioles, going deep twice on Friday to increase his home run total to five in his last five contests. The offseason acquisition looks to continue his impressive power display on Saturday as the visiting Orioles play the third contest of their four-game series versus the Texas Rangers.
Trumbo launched a two-run blast in the seventh and capped the nine-run inning with a three-run shot as Baltimore snapped a modest two-game overall skid and five-game losing streak against Texas with an 11-5 triumph on Friday. The 30-year-old has collected 11 RBIs in his last five contests and gone deep among a 4-for-16 stretch against Saturday starter Colby Lewis. Texas, which had won five of seven before getting trampled by Trumbo, will be playing its 13th contest of 14 in 14 consecutive days to start the season on Saturday. Veteran Adrian Beltre reportedly agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $36 million on Friday but saw his hitting streak snapped at seven games heading into Saturday’s tilt versus former Ranger Yovani Gallardo.
TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, MASN2, WJZ (Baltimore), FSN Southwest Plus (Texas)
PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH Yovani Gallardo (1-0, 5.40 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Colby Lewis (1-0, 3.00)
Gallardo posted a 13-11 record and 3.42 ERA in his lone campaign with Texas before signing a two-year, $22 million deal with Baltimore in the offseason. The 30-year-old Mexican enjoyed success in Arlington as well, winning eight of his 14 decisions to help the Rangers reel in a playoff berth. Gallardo was fortunate to walk away with a no-decision on Monday after allowing five runs and seven hits in five innings against Boston.
Lewis picked up his first win of the season on Monday after permitting one run and four hits in six innings of a 7-3 victory over Seattle. The 36-year-old managed to post a win in his last meeting with the Orioles despite yielding five runs and six hits in as many frames, improving his career mark versus the club to 2-4 with a gaudy 6.11 ERA. Lewis has struggled with J.J. Hardy, who enters Saturday’s contest with a five-game hitting streak and is 6-for-18 (.333) with two homers versus the hurler.
    WALK-OFFS
    1. Texas CF Delino DeShields is 8-for-17 with one homer, three RBIs and four runs scored in his last four games.
    2. Baltimore 2B Jonathan Schoop homered twice on Friday and has hit safely in all but one game this season.
    3. Rangers rookie OF Nomar Mazara is 9-for-23 with four RBIs in six contests.
    PREDICTION: Rangers 5, Orioles 4

      Preview: Diamondbacks at Padres
GAME: Arizona Diamondbacks (4-7) at San Diego Padres (3-8)
      DATE/TIME: Saturday, April 16 – 8:40 PM EST
WHERE: Petco Park, San Diego, California
      LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A
Nothing has come easy for the Arizona Diamondbacks this season as they continue their 10-game road trip with the second of three against the San Diego Padres on Saturday. Arizona seemed headed for its fifth loss in six games Friday when San Diego put runners on second and third with nobody out in the ninth inning against Brad Ziegler, but the closer wiggled out of trouble to extend his club record for consecutive saves to 30 in the Diamondbacks’ 3-2 victory.
Arizona (4-7), which is 2-2 on its trek despite scoring 10 runs during that span, hopes to get Paul Goldschmidt (.200, three home runs, nine RBIs) going again as the slugger is hitless in his last 11 at-bats. The Padres (3-8) are struggling worse at the plate as they have scored three runs during a four-game losing streak and seven in eight games not played at Coors Field this season. San Diego’s Alexi Amarista, who is 7-for-15 this season since being recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, had two hits Friday before striking out in the ninth inning. The Diamondbacks’ Shelby Miller tries to rectify a situation in which he has permitted five home runs in two starts after yielding 13 all of last year and opposes Andrew Cashner, who owns a career ERA of 3.01 in April.
TV: 8:40 p.m. ET, FSN Arizona, FSN San Diego
PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Shelby Miller (0-1, 8.18 ERA) vs. Padres RH Andrew Cashner (0-1, 8.00)
Miller received a no-decision after allowing four runs and seven hits — two homers — in five innings of a 7-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. “It’s been rough,” the 25-year-old Texan, who could benefit from a turn at spacious Petco Park against a struggling offense, told reporters. Miller is 1-1 with 3.90 ERA in five games (four starts) versus San Diego, including 1-1, 4.30 ERA in three appearances (two starts) at Petco.
Cashner received a no-decision after allowing three runs and seven hits in five innings of a 4-3 victory in Philadelphia on Monday. The 29-year-old Texan yielded five runs and six hits in four innings of his season opener — a 7-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 6 — and struck out five in each of his first two appearances. Cashner is 5-5 with a 3.26 ERA in 17 games (13 starts) versus Arizona — 2-3, 2.90 in five turns last season — and has issues with Goldschmidt (7-for-23, home run, five RBIs, six strikeouts).
      WALK-OFFS
      1. Diamondbacks 2B Jean Segura (.366) had his nine-game hitting streak versus the Padres halted after going 0-for-3 on Friday.
      2. San Diego is 0-4 at home, including a three-game sweep to start the season when it was outscored 25-0 by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
      3. Arizona C Welington Castillo belted the 2,999th home run in franchise history Friday — a solo shot in the second inning for his first of the season.
      PREDICTION: Padres 3, Diamondbacks 2

        Preview: Giants at Dodgers
GAME: San Francisco Giants (6-5) at Los Angeles Dodgers (7-4)
        DATE/TIME: Saturday, April 16 – 9:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
        LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A
The San Francisco Giants, who began the season remarkably healthy with nary a player on the disabled list, suddenly find themselves seeking reinforcements heading into Saturday’s contest against the host Los Angeles Dodgers. The Giants dropped their third straight game Friday as left fielder Enrique Hernandez homered twice off Madison Bumgarner in the Dodgers’ 7-3 victory.
One day after Giants reliever Sergio Romo was placed on the disabled list with a strained right flexor tendon, infielder Ehire Adrianza joined him with a fractured left foot that will keep him out for at least six to eight weeks. The Giants were down to one backup infielder Friday as shortstop Brandon Crawford missed the game with a hip flexor injury, but he’s expected to avoid the disabled list. The Dodgers were experimenting with different lineups after left fielders Carl Crawford and Scott Van Slyke landed on the disabled list, but the 24-year-old Hernandez has made a strong case for more playing time with 11 hits in his first 25 at-bats. “He’s just such a team guy and jovial, but he’s an intense competitor,” manager Dave Roberts told reporters.
TV: 9:10 p.m. ET, CSN Bay Area (San Francisco), SportsNet LA (Los Angeles)
PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants RH Johnny Cueto (2-0, 4.50 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Scott Kazmir (1-0, 5.40)
Cueto settled in following a rough first inning against the Dodgers on Sunday and was able to complete seven frames while yielding six runs on 10 hits and two walks. The 30-year-old has pitched seven innings in each of his first two starts with the Giants after signing a six-year, $130 million contract in December. Chase Utley is 10-for-24 with a home run against Cueto, who is 3-5 with a 3.42 ERA in nine career starts against the Dodgers.
Kazmir tossed six scoreless innings in his Dodgers debut against San Diego but was rocked for six runs in four frames against the Giants on Sunday. Brandon Belt is 4-for-8 with three home runs against the 32-year-old, who is 1-1 with a 4.32 ERA in three career starts against the Giants. Kazmir is in his first season with the Dodgers after going 7-11 with a 3.10 ERA in 31 combined starts with Oakland and Houston last year.
        WALK-OFFS
        1. Los Angeles has won five in row against the Giants at Dodger Stadium.
        2. The Giants recalled OF Mac Williamson from Triple-A Sacramento to replace Adrianza on the roster.
        3. The Dodgers activated RHP Chris Hatcher from the paternity list and optioned C Austin Barnes to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
        PREDICTION: Giants 7, Dodgers 3
