    Preview: Edmonton at Vancouver
When: 10:00 PM ET, Saturday, April 9, 2016
Where: Rogers Arena, Vancouver, British Columbia
A pair of Pacific Division rivals wrap up their disappointing campaigns Saturday as the Edmonton Oilers visit the Vancouver Canucks in the season finale for both teams. Edmonton will finish last in its division for the fifth time in seven seasons and sixth since reaching the Stanley Cup Final in 2006 – the last time it has qualified for the playoffs.
The Oilers completed the home portion of their schedule with a 6-2 triumph over the Canucks on Wednesday in their final game at Rexall Place, as they move into Rogers Place in 2016-17, but have recorded a league-low 12 victories on the road (12-23-5). Vancouver is only four points ahead of Edmonton as it missed out on the postseason for the second time in three seasons. While the Oilers have been woeful on the road, the Canucks have struggled mightily in their own building as they enter Saturday tied with Toronto for the fewest home wins (14). Edmonton is 3-0-1 against Vancouver this season – including a 1-0-1 mark at Rogers Arena, with both meetings being decided in overtime.
    TV: 10 p.m. ET, CBC
ABOUT THE OILERS (31-43-7): Defenseman Darnell Nurse participated in practice Friday and is likely to be in the lineup against Vancouver after leaving Wednesday’s win when he took a puck to the throat. “It is scary because you feel like you could eat your Adam’s apple,” Nurse told the team’s website. “I’m lucky. It could have been a lot worse than it was, and I’m fortunate to come out just a little swollen with a couple of vocal cords messed up.” Leon Draisaitl, who scored against Vancouver on Wednesday, needs one tally to become the third Oiler to reach the 20-goal plateau this season.
ABOUT THE CANUCKS (30-38-13): Daniel Sedin is two goals shy of reaching 30 for the fifth time in his career but has scored only one in his last eight games. Captain Henrik Sedin is mired in a 12-game goal-scoring drought and has netted just one in his last 23 contests. While the Swedish twins have had trouble scoring, 21-year-old Russian defenseman Nikita Tryamkin registered his first career goal in his 12th NHL game – a loss at Calgary on Thursday.
    OVERTIME
    1. The Oilers signed a pair of prospects to entry-level contracts this week, inking D Caleb Jones to a three-year deal and locking up G Nick Ellis for two years.
    2. Vancouver recalled LW Mike Zalewski from Utica of the American Hockey League.
    3. Edmonton LW Patrick Maroon has recorded 13 points in 15 games with the club after notching the same amount in 56 contests with Anaheim.
    PREDICTION: Canucks 4, Oilers 3

      Preview: Winnipeg at Los Angeles
When: 10:00 PM ET, Saturday, April 9, 2016
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
The blueprint for the Los Angeles Kings entering Saturday’s regular-season finale against the visiting Winnipeg Jets couldn’t be more simple: win and the team clinches the Pacific Division title and the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Los Angeles can also claim the division with a loss if Anaheim fails to win its final two games.
Winning the Pacific will propel the Kings into a first-round series against the seventh-seeded Nashville Predators. Los Angeles, which has not captured a division title in 25 years, outlasted Anaheim 2-1 on Thursday night in a showdown for first place in the Pacific. “We have a lot of work left to do, one massive game ahead of us, but home ice is very important,” Kings defenseman Drew Doughty said. Winnipeg enters the contest on a season-high three-game winning streak, knocking off playoff-bound teams in Minnesota, Anaheim and San Jose.
TV: 10 p.m. ET, Sportsnet (Winnipeg), Prime Ticket (Los Angeles)
ABOUT THE JETS (34-49-8): Center Mark Scheifele continued his torrid late-season surge by scoring twice in Thursday’s 5-4 victory at San Jose to extend his point streak to nine games – a stretch in which he has notched six goals and eight assists. Scheifele, who has been held without a tally in six games against Los Angeles, is one goal shy of reaching 30 and doubling his total from last season. Blake Wheeler is on a tear of his own, scoring five times during a four-game goal-scoring streak and amassing 14 points during a 10-game string.
ABOUT THE KINGS (48-28-5): Jonathan Quick set a franchise record with his 40th victory Thursday to remain in the running for his second Jennings Trophy – awarded to the goaltender who plays at least 25 games for the league’s stingiest defensive team. “It’s to me, the major team award,” Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. “I know there’s been lots of talk about individuals obviously when your team does well and the star factor, but to me the most important awards that just players go on are Jennings (and) Conn Smythe.” Quick is only 4-4-1 with a 3.17 goals-against versus Winnipeg.
      OVERTIME
      1. The Kings are 7-0-3 in their last 10 home games against the Winnipeg/Atlanta franchise dating to December 1999.
      2. The Jets are 4-for-10 on the power play during their three-game run.
      3. Kings C Anze Kopitar is mired in a seven-goal goalless drought, but he has scored seven times in 13 games against Winnipeg.
      PREDICTION: Kings 4, Jets 3

        Preview: Arizona at San Jose
When: 10:30 PM ET, Saturday, April 9, 2016
Where: SAP Center at San Jose, San Jose, California
San Jose hosts the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday in the regular-season finale for both teams after the Sharks’ 5-4 loss to Winnipeg on Thursday cemented their third-place standing in the Pacific Division. San Jose, which is an NHL-best 28-10-3 on the road but 17-20-3 at home, visits Los Angeles or Anaheim – whichever team does not win the Pacific – in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs and captain Joe Pavelski said it doesn’t really matter where the Sharks start.
“Once the playoffs hit, you’re trying to find ways to win,” Pavelski told reporters. “You’re going to have to gut out a few wins on the road, you’re going to have to be solid at home. This group believes we are going to be solid at home.” The Sharks will be healthier come playoff time as defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic (knee) and left wing Matt Nieto (hand) are close to returning, but coach Peter DeBoer said he will not rush them. “I’m not going to (play them) at risking their availability for the start of the playoffs,” DeBoer told reporters. “For me, that’s not a necessity they play Saturday. In a perfect world, it would be nice. But that’s not going to be the deciding factor.” Arizona will miss the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, but has a promising future with Anthony Duclair (20 goals in his first full season) and rookie Max Domi (18).
TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, FSN Arizona, CSN California Plus (San Jose)
ABOUT THE COYOTES (35-38-8): Captain Shane Doan wraps up his 20th NHL season – all with the Winnipeg/Phoenix/Arizona franchise – and his 28 goals this campaign increased his career total to 396. “He’s in our plans for as long as he wants to continue to play,” general manager Don Maloney told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. “We certainly expect him next year. We’ve talked to Shane a number of times (and) we’ll sit down early in the offseason and get a deal done for next year.” The Coyotes will also continue building around defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson, whose 34 assists and 55 points are career highs.
ABOUT THE SHARKS (45-30-6): Pavelski is tied for fifth in the NHL with 37 goals – matching his total from a year ago – and has 115 in the last three seasons. Joe Thornton is second in the league with 62 assists and his 19 goals mark his most since scoring 21 in 2010-11. Defenseman Brent Burns reached career highs with 27 goals and 47 assists while Patrick Marleau (25 goals), Tomas Hertl (21) and Joel Ward (21) add scoring depth.
        OVERTIME
        1. Doan is the franchise leader in games (1,465), points (945) and goals, and needs five assists to surpass Thomas Steen (553) for No. 1 in that category.
        2. Pavelski and Thornton are each a team-best plus-25 while Marleau is a club-worst minus-22.
        3. San Jose won three of the first four meetings in the five-game season series, including 3-0 on March 20 behind 25 saves by James Reimer.
        PREDICTION: Sharks 3, Coyotes 2
