  • The Lounge May 31 - June 7

Well the corona virus takes a back seat after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, it was sick and brutal and I certainly expected some backlash from that. But my God what is going on down there, peaceful protests by many which I respect but these thugs, vandals and looters are truly outside the boundaries of all decent peoples imagination. In my 65 years on this planet I've never seen anything like this, I'm appalled and disgusted and I pray for the peaceful protesters, law enforcement and all decent people caught up in this degrading display of humanity. Stay safe guys.......

After an almost unbelievable weekend across the country the president comes out of hiding to tweet about "fake" poll numbers in swing states, proving once again he only cares about himself. DISGUSTING. Dan Rather posted on facebook "I can imagine no other president in my lifetime failing to address the nation in a prime time speech during a crisis such as this. On the other hand, I cannot imagine another president whose words would be less welcome by so many of his fellow citizens."

      It’s ugly Tom

Protests here in Houston for the most part have stayed peaceful, big one today led by the family so would think that one stays peaceful too. One scheduled for Thursday is close to my house, and not so sure it’s being led by the people who want peace and equality

The cop in Minnesota murdered George Floyd. They need to bring him to justice. Burning cities and destroying other innocent people’s lives will never bring justice or equality though

Yep unbelievable all right, wtf is wrong with people, peaceful protest I get but this anarchy is beyond the pale and quite frightening actually. I have no interest in the political discussion during all this, I think it's best left alone for me with the crazy party division I see down your way, lol. But what I'm wondering is what the hells going on with the virus down there with all these huge protests ? because just before this everyone was in lockdown with the threat that virus spreading would be the worst thing that could ever happen. I guess we'll see in the next couple of weeks if they've been lying or if chaos follows

Hope it stays like that coach, hate to see another beautiful city raped by these terrorists ! I can't imagine how hard it is to separate the scumbags from decent people though, hence the problem I guess. Nothing wrong with the peaceful protests about a human being murdered because that was ugly man. Those 4 cops shouldn't see the outside of jail cell ever again imo. Hoping for cooler heads to prevail now.

I work with our community police unit and also a member of our CERT (community emergency response team).
We had a peaceful protest in our city yesterday.
The leaders of the protest were greeted by our mayor.
They had a safe 1 mile stretch on a major road to march on. With a police escort.
Zero violence or damage was done.

So good to hear news like that JD, tip of the hat to you and others in those organizations you mentioned as well as the Mayor, so important at a time like this.

Just in, the charge is now 2nd degree murder for that cop and the other 3 will also be charged which is right as they were so implicit in all this.

Oh yea that will be a huge development

Here in Houston the two people who have been telling us daily how important it is to social distance, have been right there in the middle of the protests

No way they can tell people how vital it is anymore

IF everything they have been telling us about social distancing is true, we will see a spike like none imagined all across America soon....IF it is true

It has mostly stayed peaceful here in Houston too. Worried about a protest scheduled for tomorrow, and worried about what antifa will do during the funeral

                    Hopefully they don't do anything.
Otherwise might hit the reset switch for more rioting.
Here all the protest are pretty much peaceful now.

Milwaukee was pretty civil all day and deep into the night yesterday. They had no curfew, which IMO is a mistake till things cool off. People were still out in decent numbers at 3 in the morning, and at that point it was more like an out of control party than a protest. People started throwing stuff at cops and it got ugly fast after over 12 hours of peace. People just need to understand the cops aren't going to just stand there and take it when they are attacked. Protest and march all day, just don't allow it to change after dark.

A short ferry ride over to your area.
My friend Johnny is moving up there as well. He looked everything up. Since he wants to be a Packers fan now

How many total people Dave ? We're up to 4 active the last 10 days with 80 total and 1 death but under 300,000 in our area, we were at 0 for 2 weeks. We open up Monday with 50% capacity at bars and restaurants and that's about everything up here as hospitals and long term care places will allow visitors as well

I guess that next week will be telling with all these mass gatherings in the big cities down there, I think people are gonna be surprised with what's going to happen and then pissed because we've been locked up for 3 months. Personally I think this has gone beyond bizarre but I just don't want to be wrong and see a big spike. Next it will be well it's seasonal and we're gonna get whacked in the fall, keep that fear rolling... Of course you may not even have a country by that time the way it's going, how can the greatest country in the world have come to this, I really just don't get it
