Re: NFL Plays Week 10 - Comp Play up

    Started the week with this...

    $400 Seattle/Arizona over 39.5 (-120)
The total has gone down a bit this morning and just hit 40. I am not comfortable waiting to see if 39.5 is coming, though I would love to have that number, so I paid the extra .10 juice. Arizona has very average pass defense numbers, especially when you consider they played the Niners twice (31st in passer rating) and the Colts. In the games played against every other team they allowed 33,33,34,28, and 35. The low output allowed was 28 against the Cowboys, and they totally dominated the clock in that game with over 36 minutes time of possession. I use that game specifically as an example for tonight because with the emergence of Adrian Peterson the Carson Palmer-less Cardinals will try to control the clock by running. Should they need to pass they will be aided in doing so by the absence of All-Pro safety Earl Thomas. The Seahawks are coming off a game where they constantly shot themselves in the foot. They missed 3 field goals and had a whopping 16 penalties for 138 yards. They should clean that up this week and operate a more efficient offense. Teams off such sloppy performances are also 18-6 ATS lately after 110 PY games, so fading Seattle is probably not a good idea. The last time these teams faced each other Thomas also missed and the Cardinals won 34-31 in Seattle last year. This total is as low as it is because of Palmer being out and the low scoring nature of last week's games. For a long time the best way to attack this Seahawks D has been on the ground. They are 24th in the NFL this year in ypc allowed on the ground. There is also a long list of banged up Seahawk defenders, so this total looks about 4 points low to me. I normally lean under on these short week games, especially in division games. Tonight looks like one of those rare occasions where the public will have a hard time taking the OVER, so we will do exactly that.LOSER (-480)

These were my plays in the early games...

              $300 Minnesota/Washington under 42.5 (-113) LOSER (-339)
              $400 Green Bay +6 $WINNER$ (+400)
              $400 Pittsburgh/Indianapolis under 45 $WINNER$ (+400)
              $400 San Diego/Jacksonville under 41 $WINNER$ (+400)
$500 Tampa Bay +2.5 (-105) NFL Play of the Week
Waiting for 3 probably won't pay off, this is one of those games the book sets tantalizingly low, despite the fact they are taking tons of one-way action on the Jets. This is the ultimate buy-low/sell-high game. The Jets are coming off a nationally televised win over division rival Buffalo. They have won 4 games and already surpassed their projected season win total. Many people were questioning before the season started if they would even win one game! The Tampa Bay Bucs on the other hand have lost their starting QB to injury and their stud WR to suspension for this game. They have lost 5 straight games and looked just awful in losing 30-10 to the Saints last week. To further accentuate the flipped fortunes of these 2 teams since the start of the season, consider this...before the season started the look ahead line for this game was Tampa Bay -8 posted by CG Technologies. Tampa Bay was viewed as a team with a rising star at QB and definite playoff contenders. The Jets were viewed as the worst team in the NFL. I get that it is hard to back a team when they are at their lowest point, but that is exactly what you must do to win long-term betting on sports. How many times do we see that teams missing their star players play well without them. These are world class athletes with egos, nobody likes hearing how much they suck and how they have no chance to win a game. In a twist of fate we get ex-Jet Ryan Fitzpatrick under center to seek revenge against his former employer. It's not like Winston was playing well anyway, matter of fact the best the Bucs offense looked all year was a game Fitz took over in relief against the Cardinals when he threw for 290 yards in less than a half of football. Clearly we need that human pride factor to kick in today, I am counting on it. Except for that Cardinals game, every loss has come at the hands of what will be 2017 playoff participants. The Jets are not in that class, despite all their modest success this season. $WINNER$ (+500)
              $300 Cincinnati +4.5 $WINNER$ (+300)
              $300 Cleveland +12 (-115) LOSER (-345)

Have these 2 plays to finish the day...

                  $300 N.Y. Giants -2.5 (-120) LOSER -360)
                  $300 Denver +7.5 (-115)
Very difficult game to pull the trigger on after last week, I get it. I really wanted to make this a bigger play. From a purely "contrarian" point of view, this game will be one of the single largest largest liability games for the sportsbooks all season. What I mean by that is they will need Denver to cover this game or it will be as large a loss they take all year. Certainly that may happen, but I am not in the business of backing road favorites that the betting public loves. Isolated Sunday night game also makes this a chase game for the books, meaning they will be taking a HUGE volume on this game and a VERY small minority will be backing Denver. The Broncos have been this large a home dog only twice in the last 30 years, they found a way to cover ATS both times. One of those times was a playoff game that Tim Tebow started that the whole world thought they would lose. Denver still has one of the best defenses in football, someway, somehow they will overcome Osweiler's ineptness. LOSER (-345)
