Re: NFL Off Season News And Rumors

    Jets released CB Darrelle Revis.
Signed to a "five-year, $70 million" contract in March 2015, Revis returned to New York as a conquering hero, and turned in a solid 2015. Things have been very Jets-y since, with Revis' play falling off a cliff last season before a February arrest on felony assault charges.

According to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline, the Vikings have been "showing a good deal of interest" in free agent Latavius Murray.
Per Pauline, this was even before the Vikings announced they wouldn't exercise Adrian Peterson's option.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Broncos are "clearly in the driver's seat" for Tony Romo "if he's willing to take a pay cut."
Per Rapsheet, it's "the Broncos and then everyone else." Romo is currently due $14 million for 2017 in his soon-to-be-torn-up deal. It's arguably still a fair price, but the Broncos have lots of high-dollar players.

Giants signed WR Brandon Marshall, formerly of the Jets, to a two-year, $12 million contract.
Marshall takes a bit of a pay cut in annual average to stay home in East Rutherford and join a contender. He was initially scheduled to earn $7.5 million from the Jets in 2017 before being cut last week.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the 49ers are "setting their sights" on free agent Pierre Garcon.
New coach Kyle Shanahan seems to be trying his best to make the 49ers a version of Redskins West. Working to acquire Kirk Cousins as his franchise quarterback, Shanahan could also be targeting Garcon and even DeSean Jackson as free agents

49ers agreed to terms with QB Brian Hoyer on a two-year contract.
Things were headed this direction all day. Hoyer reunites in San Francisco with former OC Kyle Shanahan, serving as a bridge until the 49ers find their long-term answer. Signing Hoyer likely means the 49ers will not trade for Kirk Cousins this offseason, but it seems like a foregone conclusion Cousins will end up in San Francisco at some point.

          Ravens released OLB Elvis Dumervil.
It's been an expected move all along and will save the Ravens $6 million against the cap. Dumervil turned 33 earlier this year and has just nine total sacks over the past two seasons.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys will release Tony Romo on Thursday.
After 14 years, the Romo Era has finally ended in Dallas. While it's a little surprising the Cowboys didn't pursue a trade for Romo, they're doing right by giving the veteran a chance to choose his next team

Patriots acquired TE Dwayne Allen and a sixth-round pick from the Colts in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
The surprising move is a result of free agency's moving parts, with the Colts re-signing Jack Doyle and the Pats letting Martellus Bennett walk.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Ravens will sign RB Danny Woodhead.
We're still waiting on the contract details. Woodhead missed most of last season with a torn ACL but is back to full health. In his last healthy season Woodhead led all running backs with 80 catches and 755 receiving yards.

Browns agreed to terms with WR Kenny Britt, formerly of the Rams, on a four-year, $32.5 million contract.
It would seem signing Britt means Terrelle Pryor is leaving Cleveland.

Buccaneers agreed to terms with WR DeSean Jackson, formerly of the Redskins.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Jackson's new deal will top $10 million annually. Jackson was connected to a number of teams leading up to his signing, but the Bucs were always thought of as the favorites.

Lions agreed to terms with RT Rick Wagner on a multi-year deal worth in excess of $9 million annually.
The Bears are apparently outbidding everyone by a mile for Mike Glennon, but they couldn't beat the Lions' offer to Wagner, who will replace Riley Reiff at right tackle in Detroit. 27-year-old Wagner was one of the NFL's premier pass-blocking right tackles last season and holds his own in the running game.

Re: NFL Off Season News And Rumors

49ers agreed to terms with Pierre Garcon, formerly of the Redskins, on a three-year contract.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports the contract will pay "about $23 million over the first two years" including a $12 million signing bonus. It is a lot of money for a 30-year-old receiver, but Garcon's game should age well and he has a history of success in new coach Kyle Shanahan's offense

Saints agreed to terms with WR Ted Ginn, formerly of the Panthers.
One of the league's most dangerous deep threats, Ginn would be a readymade replacement for Brandin Cooks on streak routes if Cooks is sent packing.

Bears agreed to terms with Mike Glennon, formerly of the Bucs, on a three-year, $45-million contract.

Eagles agreed to terms with WR Torrey Smith, formerly of the 49ers, on a three-year, $15 million contract.

Re: NFL Off Season News And Rumors

Eagles signed WR Alshon Jeffery, formerly of the Bears, to a one-year, $14 million contract.

Browns acquired Brock Osweiler, a 2018 second-round pick, and a 2017 sixth-round pick from the Texans in exchange for a 2017 fourth-round pick.
This is a straight salary dump the likes of which we normally only see in the NBA. Essentially, the Texans sent a second-round pick to Cleveland in order to get the Browns to take Osweiler's bloated deal off their hands. With zero cap concerns, the Browns can pay Osweiler the rest of the guaranteed money ($16 million) on his contract, give him a shot to win the starting job, and cut him next offseason with no financial ramifications if (when) it does not work out all while landing a second-round pick

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora suggested to "keep an eye on" the Raiders and Lions as potential landing spots for free agent Adrian Peterson.
With the Vikings signing Latavius Murray on Thursday, that closes the door for Peterson in Minnesota, but it could possibly open one in Oakland as Murray's replacement. However, at the moment, it seems like the Raiders are willing to hold firm with Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington heading into the draft. We haven't seen the Lions connected to Peterson much, but Detroit has made it known it wants to fix its running game.

According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, Tony Romo believes his options for 2017 are retiring or playing for the Texans.
Darlington said the Broncos haven't "closed the door" on Romo but aren't actively pursuing him. Romo ending up in Houston seemed like a forgone conclusion when the Texans traded Brock Osweiler to Cleveland, but no progress has been made. With Romo still stranded in Dallas, it's possible he could leave to pursue a career in broadcasting.

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan wouldn't commit to Josh McCown as the team's starting quarterback.
Maccagnan said that decision will be made by coach Todd Bowles. He added that it's "highly unlikely" the Jets will add another quarterback in free agency but acknowledged that drafting one is a possibility.

Ravens signed WR Jeremy Maclin to a two-year, $11-million contract.

                              Jets released WR Eric Decker.
After announcing they planned to trade or release him at the end of last week, the Jets were true to their word. They saved $7.25M in cap space. The 30-year-old receiver is returning from hip and shoulder surgeries, but should have no issue finding immediate work.
