    Re: Off Season Moves

Nationals acquired OF Adam Eaton from the White Sox for RHP Lucas Giolito, RHP Reynaldo Lopez, and RHP Dane Dunning.
Washington was determined to make a splash at this week's Winter Meetings, and this is a big one. Eaton was a 6.0 fWAR player for the White Sox in 2016, slashing .284/.362/.428 with 14 home runs and 14 stolen bases in 157 games while playing strong defense in right field. He won't rate as well in center with the Nationals, but it's a tremendous addition to the lineup and the 28-year-old is on a very team-friendly contract that can potentially run through 2021.

Angels acquired INF Danny Espinosa from the Nationals for RHP Austin Adams and RHP Kyle McGowin.
Both teams have confirmed the trade. Espinosa is expected to be the starting second baseman for the Angels, replacing Cliff Pennington atop the depth chart.

According to ESPN's Jim Bowden, free agent Kenley Jansen has agreed to a five-year, $80 million contract with the Dodgers.
The contract comes with an opt-out after 2019. Jansen flirted with the Marlins and Nationals, but it might have been to simply drive up the price. He has made it very well known that he feels comfortable in Los Angeles, and that's where he'll head back to for the 2017 season and beyond.

White Sox signed LHP Derek Holland to a one-year, $6 million contract.
Scott Merkin of MLB.com reported that the two sides were close while Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News passed along the contract details. Holland hasn't made 30 starts in a season since 2013, but the suddenly-rebuilding White Sox could flip him at the trade deadline if he has a resurgence

Phillies acquired RHP Clay Buchholz from the Red Sox for INF Josh Tobias.
The deal is now official. The Phillies will cover all of Buchholz's $13.5 million salary for 2017 as part of the deal. The 32-year-old Buchholz lost his rotation spot for a stretch this past season and finished with a 4.78 ERA and 93/55 K/BB ratio over 139 1/3 innings, but the Phillies are banking on some improvement with the move to the National League.

                        Re: Off Season Moves

Jim Bowden of ESPN and SiriusXM reports that at least five teams have made multi-year offers to free agent slugger Edwin Encarnacion.
He cites the Indians, Rangers, Astros, Athletics, and Blue Jays as the known teams. Two of these teams have been especially active in negotiating with Encarnacion's agent. Other recent sources have mentioned the Rockies and Cardinals as potential suitors as well. Encarnacion declined a $17.2 million qualifying offer from the Blue Jays early in the offseason, thereby tying himself to draft pick compensation that has already had a negative effect on his value. He also turned down a four-year, $80 million offer from the Blue Jays last month. That may have been a mistake, as the recent offers are believed to be mostly three-year deals

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports writes the Padres have considered signing Jered Weaver to fill out their starting rotation.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports the Dodgers and Twins continue to discuss a potential deal that would send second baseman Brian Dozier to Los Angeles.
No deal is imminent but talks are still ongoing. The return package going to the Twins would include top pitching prospect Jose De Leon, but the two clubs cannot agree on another prospect or two that would head Minnesota's way.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Indians have landed Edwin Encarnacion on a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year.
The deal is worth $60 million guaranteed, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. The club option for 2020 is worth $25 million and carries a $5 million buyout, so the deal could max out at $80 million

Jim Bowden of ESPN and SiriusXM reports that the Rangers "are now considered front-runners" to sign Mike Napoli.
Texas lost out on Edwin Encarnacion, but they're a natural landing spot for Napoli now with potential openings both at first base and in the designated hitter spot.

Athletics signed OF Rajai Davis to a one-year, $6 million contract.

Royals acquired 1B/OF Peter O'Brien from the Diamondbacks for RHP Sam Lewis.
O'Brien has flashed huge power numbers in the minors, but plate discipline has always been an issue and he doesn't fit well at any defensive position on the diamond.

Reds signed RHP Drew Storen to a one-year, $3 million contract.
