FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Yoenis Cespedes is headed back to the Mets.
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports hears that it's a four-year deal worth $110 million, pending a physical. Andy Martino of SNY reports that the deal includes a full no-trade clause. Per Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, Cespedes will make $22.5 million in 2017, $29 million in 2018 and 2019, and $29.5 million in 2020. It was a no-brainer for Cespedes to opt out of the final two years of his contract in order to test free agency, but the Mets made it a top priority to keep him around.

Athletics signed OF Matt Joyce to a two-year, $11 million contract.
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported the terms involved. Joyce, 32, batted .242/.403/.463 with 13 homers over 140 games with the Pirates this past season and owns an .803 OPS against right-handers in his career.

ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Pirates and Nationals have "ramped up" discussions toward an Andrew McCutchen trade.
Stark hears the Nationals "would like to make this deal [Thursday]" -- before Friday's non-tender deadline -- because of the ripple effects it would create. There's talk of the Nationals sending top outfield prospect Victor Robles to Pittsburgh

ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Pirates and Nationals have "ramped up" discussions toward an Andrew McCutchen trade.
Stark hears the Nationals "would like to make this deal [Thursday]" -- before Friday's non-tender deadline -- because of the ripple effects it would create. There's talk of the Nationals sending top outfield prospect Victor Robles to Pittsburgh

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Nationals, Astros, Red Sox, Rangers and Braves "are starting to separate themselves at the forefront" in trade talks for Chris Sale.
Heyman cautions that it "doesn’t mean that any one of these teams is sure to get him, or even that Sale will definitely be traded," but for now it appears it's the aforementioned five clubs involved in the most serious trade talks for the ace lefty.

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that the Astros have agreed to a one-year, $16 million contract with Carlos Beltran.
The Astros have won out over the Yankees, Red Sox and Blue Jays who were also active in the bidding for the veteran slugger.

Nationals acquired C Derek Norris from the Padres in exchange for RHP Pedro Avila.
Norris is a former Nationals prospect who was traded to the A's a few years ago in the Gio Gonzalez deal. He's now back with the organization that drafted him, taking the place of free agent Wilson Ramos.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Nationals are trying to acquire both Andrew McCutchen and Chris Sale and believed that they have the necessary prospects to do so.
Many had speculated that it would be a one or the other scenario, as it's hard to imagine the Nationals can land both superstars without parting with Trea Turner. It looks increasingly likely that McCutchen will be traded this winter, and there's a good chance that it happens at the winter meetings.

Blue Jays signed INF/OF Steve Pearce to a two-year, $12.5 million contract.

Dodgers re-signed LHP Rich Hill to a three-year, $48 million contract.
The deal was agreed to in principle over the weekend and then finalized Monday morning after the veteran left-hander passed his physical.

Mark Melancon has agreed to a contract with the Giants, per Buster Olney of ESPN.

Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports that Travis Shaw has been traded to the Brewers.
Evan Drellich of the Boston Herald reported that the Red Sox agreed to a deal with the Brewers for a reliever, but we have yet to get the specifics involved.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Red Sox have agreed to a one-year deal with Mitch Moreland.
Moreland figures to serve as Boston's regular first baseman in 2017 after winning Gold Glove honors there with Texas in 2016. Which means more DH time for Hanley Ramirez.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Cubs and Royals have agreed to a Wade Davis-Jorge Soler swap, pending medicals.
It's not a done deal, but assuming the Cubs don't have any issues with Davis' medical records, it could be announced Wednesday morning. On the surface, it's not an overwhelming return for Davis, but he only has one year remaining on his contract and he's coming off a season where he was bothered by some forearm issues. Still, there's no questioning his ability if healthy. The 31-year-old owns a 1.18 ERA over the last three seasons and will immediately take over the closer role in Chicago

He'll get a one-year, $11.5 million contract, per FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. It's a bit surprising Gomez couldn't find a multi-year deal in this weak free agent market,

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Ian Desmond is headed to the Rockies.
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports says the deal is worth $70 million while Joel Sherman reports that it's a five-year contract. Jim Bowden of ESPN.com reports there's an option for a sixth year which could bring the total outlay to $83 million.
