The Texas Rangers squandered an early six-run lead and saw the bottom fall out in the ninth inning to suffer a stunning setback in their series opener versus the visiting Boston Red Sox. The Rangers look to prevent their first series loss since being swept by American League West-rival Oakland from May 16-18 when they play the second contest of the three-game set on Saturday.

Madison Bumgarner went exactly two months between losses and looks to bounce back from a rare setback when the San Francisco Giants host the Philadelphia Phillies in the middle contest of their three-game series. One swing from Adam Lind ended a six-game losing streak and the Seattle Mariners look to ride the momentum when they host the St. Louis Cardinals in Saturday's middle contest of a three-game series.
