Preview: Penguins (29-19) at Sabres (24-28)

    Date: February 21, 2016 12:30 PM EDT

An illness to Marc-Andre Fleury has Jeff Zatkoff on alert again, but the Pittsburgh Penguins might be more concerned about what's happening at the other end of the ice.

With their starting goaltender unknown, the Penguins look for some offensive improvement in order to continue their dominance of the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday.

Fleury has been terrific of late, going 3-1-1 with a .942 save percentage over his last five games. He was unable to keep that strong stretch going Saturday, falling ill and pressing Zatkoff into an unexpected start. The backup made 16 saves in a 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay, despite Pittsburgh (29-19-8) holding a 39-20 shot advantage.

"That's my role," said Zatkoff, who is 2-6-1 with a 2.96 GAA over his last 10 games. "That's my job to be able to come in and give the team a chance and to give him a night off. Unfortunately we didn't get it done. I didn't get it done."

Zatkoff may find himself in the same situation Sunday since Fleury's status is unknown. However, Zatkoff had a career-high 50 saves in a 4-3 win over Buffalo (24-28-7) on Oct. 29.

The Penguins have averaged 4.14 goals during a seven-game winning streak over the Sabres, part of a stretch of 16 wins in their last 20 games against Buffalo.

Pittsburgh hasn't come close to that kind of production lately, particularly on the road. The Penguins have tallied just 16 times during a 2-2-3 stretch away from home.

Improving on that might be tougher with Evgeni Malkin (lower-body injury) possibly out for an eighth straight game overall. Sidney Crosby has just two points over the last five games, both coming in Thursday's 6-3 win over Detroit.

Facing the Sabres should get him untracked. Crosby has 47 points in 29 career meetings. He had two assists against the Sabres in October.

The Penguins are currently sitting in the Eastern Conference's last wild-card spot, and while Buffalo is 11 points behind it's showing some signs of life lately. The Sabres have outscored opponents 15-6 during a 3-0-1 stretch after beating Columbus 4-0 on Friday behind Robin Lehner's 38 saves.

Lehner is 4-4-2 with a 2.30 GAA and .932 save percentage on the season, but he's 2-0-1 while stopping 97 of 99 shots while starting three straight games.

That should be reason enough for him to get the nod again.

"He's an engaged goalie," coach Dan Bylsma said. "Maybe the most engaged goalie I've been able to coach and he was engaged (Friday). He was certainly on his game, he was strong."

Bylsma's other option is Chad Johnson, who has a 3.50 GAA while going 1-2-1 over his last four games. He had 26 saves at Pittsburgh in October.

Sam Reinhart has six goals over the last eight games, matching his production from his previous 24. The surge has also given him a team-leading 18 goals, ranking third in the NHL among rookies.

"I think it shows a lot to the support I've had," Reinhart told the team's official website. "I think there's lots of guys in our locker room that can chip in, we have a lot of depth in that sense, and I think at any given time anyone can be a guy who puts the puck in the net."

Preview: Blackhawks (38-18) at Wild (26-22)

    Date: February 21, 2016 3:30 PM EDT

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Finally, after years of lobbying to host an outdoor game, the Minnesota Wild will take their skates and sticks to the ice under the winter sky Sunday.

Fittingly, they will face the Chicago Blackhawks, the division rival that has eliminated them from the playoffs in each of the last three years and one of the NHL's premier teams that has already participated in three of these au naturel games.

Fortunately for the Wild, they're playing well enough a week after the firing of head coach Mike Yeo that they haven't spoiled the party.

This will be the 17th time the league has staged an outdoor game, including eight editions of the Winter Classic on New Year's Day, but the players who haven't done this yet will surely find themselves thinking back to those childhood skating sessions at the local park or on the frozen pond for at least a few seconds.

'It's important to really live in the moment and soak in different situations that you get a chance that you get to be a part of. This is one of them,' Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk said. 'Who knows when you get a chance to be in a situation like this or a game like this again? You don't want to zone out so much that you wake up a week from now and you don't remember any of it.'

That goes for the other guys, too.

'There's no doubt your fourth one is not exactly a novelty like it was at first, but still exciting,' Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews said. 'It looks like we're going to get some decent weather, knock on wood.'

The forecasts for Sunday are calling for a high temperature of 35 degrees and a dry, partly sunny day.

Given the severe slump that prompted the change on the bench and pushed the Wild (26-22-10) below the cut for the Western Conference wild-card spots, beating the Blackhawks (38-18-5) would mean a lot more than experiencing the nostalgic charm of an outdoor game.

'We'd like to come out with two points, that's for sure,' said interim coach John Torchetti, the former Blackhawks assistant who was on staff in 2010 for the first of three Stanley Cup titles the team has won in the last six years.

Torchetti is 3-0 since taking over. The Wild scored five goals in each game, the first time in franchise history they've had such a streak.

So there'll be some urgency surrounding the Wild when they take the ice for the Stadium Series event at TCF Bank Stadium, where the University of Minnesota plays football, but there'll be amusement and appreciation as well. This is Minnesota, after all, the state that produced 36 players on NHL rosters this season and ranks first in the nation in terms of participation according to USA Hockey.

'When you get to be part of these Stadium Series games, I think the NHL has a little faith in your team to put on a good show,' Blackhawks star Patrick Kane said. 'And obviously in Minnesota here, we know hockey's pretty popular, too, so I'm sure it will be an exciting game.'

After the two teams tuned up with a light practice on Saturday, with satisfactory reviews of the ice condition all around, the alumni game came next with a handful of ex-Wild players joining former Minnesota North Stars standouts in a friendly grudge match against Blackhawks greats.

There were many other facets of the weekend-long celebration of the sport, from the fan festival at the stadium, autograph sessions, live music and even a special lighting of the nearby Interstate 35W bridge over the Mississippi River in the Wild's red and green colors.

So the expected capacity crowd of 50,000 people will have plenty to entertain themselves with. Once the puck drops, though, the atmosphere turns serious.

'At the end of the day, at this time of the season especially, we know how important a game it is,' Wild forward Zach Parise said. 'It's a team that's playing really well and a team that you know you have to go through. We have to make sure that we're ready and try and limit the distractions.'

Preview: Red Wings (29-20) at Rangers (33-19)

      Date: February 21, 2016 7:00 PM EDT

The New York Rangers got good news on the status of captain Ryan McDonagh, but he's still out for the fifth time in seven games.

The Rangers will again try to withstand his absence as they go for a fifth straight home win over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday night.

New York (33-19-6) has put together a 6-1-1 stretch, and that includes going 3-0-1 with McDonagh sidelined by a concussion.

The Rangers will be without him again after he took an elbow to the jaw from Toronto's Leo Komarov in the first period of Thursday's 4-2 victory. McDonagh left as a precaution, and the scare of another concussion was quelled after he passed two league tests.

McDonagh, though, won't play Sunday due to jaw and neck ailments, and Komarov was suspended three games by the NHL.

"He seems to be doing OK, and we're all thankful for that," defenseman Marc Staal told the team's official website. "That was a dirty hit, the kind of hit that we're trying to get out of the game, and I'm just happy that Mac is going to be OK."

Rick Nash's injury is a different matter. He'll miss a 12th straight game with a bone bruise in his left leg.

Derick Brassard and Mats Zuccarello are keying the Rangers offensively. Brassard has seven goals and seven assists in 10 games, while Zuccarello has 12 points over that span.

They accounted for three goals and two assists against the Leafs and Antti Raanta made 35 saves while starting for Henrik Lundqvist, who should be back for this one.

Lundqvist has been in net for New York's four straight home wins against Detroit, compiling a 0.98 goals-against average and two shutouts. It's the Rangers' longest home winning streak in the series since taking nine straight from 1982-87.

New York is 21-6-3 at MSG and the Red Wings have lost five straight on the road, their longest since a seven-game skid in March 2012.

Detroit is concluding a four-game road trip after falling 3-2 in a shootout at Ottawa on Saturday.

"I told the guys that we could play great and not win, that's the reality sometimes, and I'm not saying we played great, but certainly a lot better and we've got to do the same thing (Sunday)," coach Jeff Blashill said.

Dylan Larkin's expected return should help. The center sat out one game with an illness but Blashill anticipates using him Sunday. Larkin leads the Red Wings with 19 goals, three fewer than Chicago's Artemi Panarin for the NHL rookie lead.

"I think Larkin could have played (Saturday), but it would have been about 80 percent and I'm not a big believer in playing guys like that when you have 100 percent guys there," Blashill said.

It seems unlikely that Petr Mrazek will face the Rangers for the first time after he made 25 saves and turned aside two of three shootout attempts Saturday. Mrazek hasn't started on back-to-back days this season, and allowed seven goals on 18 shots on the two occasions he did so last season.

Jimmy Howard is 4-2-1 with a 1.84 GAA in seven career games against New York, but his stopping 66 of 69 shots last season wasn't enough opposite Lundqvist's shutouts.

Preview: Flames (26-28) at Ducks (30-19)

        Date: February 21, 2016 7:00 PM EDT

The Anaheim Ducks answered the challenge brought on by a grueling 11-day trip.

Their reward is a matchup with a team they've dominated on home ice.

The Ducks look to continue their surge up the Pacific Division with a seemingly soft stretch of home games beginning with Sunday night's visit from the Calgary Flames.

Anaheim didn't wilt under the strain of a season-high seven-game trek in which it logged over 7,500 miles, closing with four consecutive victories after losing two of the first three tests. The Ducks scored 16 goals over the last three wins, further proving an offense that was often dormant over the season's first half has put its early problems behind.

"We just stuck with our game plan throughout the entire road trip," forward Richard Rakell said after Thursday's 5-2 win over Vancouver. "We've been scoring a lot of goals, scoring on the power play and playing good (on the penalty kill). This road trip was just what we needed."

Anaheim (30-19-8) has recorded a league-high 53 goals over an NHL-best 13-1-1 run since Jan. 13 that's moved it within striking distance of Pacific leader Los Angeles. The Ducks will host the Kings on this five-game homestand following games against Calgary (26-28-3), Buffalo and Edmonton - three of the league's six worst teams record-wise.

The Ducks had little trouble generating offense in Monday's visit to Calgary, going 3 for 3 on the power play in a 6-4 win. Anaheim is 5 for 7 in man-advantage situations in winning all three season meetings.

Calgary, which owns the NHL's second-worst road record at 9-15-3, has offered even less resistance as the visitor in this series. The Flames have lost 21 straight regular-season games at Honda Center since a 5-1 win Jan. 19, 2004, and dropped three games there during last year's Western Conference quarterfinals.

The Flames come in having scored four or more goals in five of their last seven, though stopping opponents has remained a season-long issue. They are last in the NHL in save percentage (.896) and penalty killing (73.6) and have been particularly poor at the latter of late, permitting 10 power-play goals over their last five.

After surrendering 20 overall in a four-game span, Calgary received a solid 26 saves from former Duck Jonas Hiller in halting a three-game skid with Friday's 5-2 win over reeling Vancouver.

Hiller, reinstalled as the Flames' No. 1 goaltender following Karri Ramo's season-ending ACL tear last week, had allowed 12 goals over his previous four starts. He was pulled early in the second period of Monday's loss after the Ducks scored four times on 17 shots.

Corey Perry and Rakell produced goals in that game and have three each against Calgary this season. Ryan Getzlaf, who extended his point streak to seven games with a goal and an assist Thursday, tied a career high with five assists in a 5-3 home win over the Flames on Nov. 24.

Getzlaf has 12 points over his run and Rakell has four goals over his last six.

Calgary's Mikael Backlund registered his fifth goal in seven games Friday, while defenseman T.J. Brodie had three assists to give him 11 over his last eight.

'Lately, we've been trying to play more of a five-man unit. Jumping through the holes, trying to find the pockets, and get pucks to the net and it worked out for us (Friday)," Brodie said.

Preview: Lightning (31-22) at Hurricanes (27-22)

          Date: February 21, 2016 7:00 PM EDT

Carolina just cooled off one of hockey's top road teams, further growing its reputation as a tough home team to handle.

The Hurricanes will try to extend their season-best home winning streak Sunday night against Tampa Bay, but the Lightning have dominated this series recently and been a 5-on-5 force over their own mini-streak.

After a 5-2 win over streaking San Jose on Friday, the Hurricanes (27-22-10) are heading into the second of a three-game homestand seeking a fourth consecutive home win. They've gone 9-1-3 at home since the Christmas break, outscoring opponents by an average of 3.23 to 1.85 with a 93.1 percent penalty kill.

"It's a big time of year," Jeff Skinner told the team's official website. "Every game you come to the rink, those two points are big. Even tonight, playing a Western Conference team, those two points are just as important as when we're playing anyone else in the league. It's a good win. Those guys are a good team over there, a good road team. It's big to get those two points, especially at this time of year."

Skinner scored twice and Jordan Staal scored for a third straight game while adding an assist to give him 22 points in 19 games after managing 15 through his first 40.

Eric Staal's goal-scoring drought reached 15 games, but he at least notched an assist to end a seven-game span without a point.

"This is a fun time of year to be involved and to be playing," Eric Staal said. "We're in the mix. We've put ourselves in that (position) and we've got to fight, we've got to win and we've got to pick up points every night."

That's been the case for nearly two months with Cam Ward in goal. Carolina's No. 1 hasn't lost in regulation since Dec. 29, going 6-0-4 with a 1.90 goals-against average and .930 save percentage since the calendar flipped to 2016.

"He's our guy," coach Bill Peters said. "We have a lot of confidence in (Ward and Eddie Lack), but we're going to ride a guy, and it will be Cam."

Ward, however, has been peppered by Tampa Bay for more than six years now, going 6-10-2 with a 3.43 GAA and .895 save percentage, including four straight regulation losses. Among the 18 teams he's faced at least 10 times in his career, his 3.00 GAA versus the Lightning is the highest.

One of those losses came Nov. 1 as Tampa Bay (31-22-4) opened the season series with a 4-3 win in Carolina as part of a 10-2-0 span against the Hurricanes.

The Lightning are coming off Saturday's 4-2 win in Pittsburgh following a 6-5 shootout victory over Winnipeg, and they outscored those teams 9-3 at even strength.

"I didn't think we gave them a whole lot," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. "When we did give them something, it was either we were on a power play or it was 4-on-4. But other than that, I thought 5-on-5 we played pretty steady. We got the lead. We played D. That was pretty much it."

With that, however, comes a 0-for-10 power play as part of a 1-for-24 span, as well as two short-handed goals allowed in the last two games. The power play has been even worse on the road with one conversion in 41 chances dating to Dec. 6.

Individually, Steven Stamkos has scored in consecutive contests to get to 300 career goals, one of which came in November against Ward.

Tampa Bay's Ben Bishop is 5-1-0 with a 1.67 GAA and .950 save percentage in his career against Carolina.

            Grand Salami - February

The Grand Salami in pro hockey is decided by adding up all the goals scored in every game scheduled for that particular day. You can wager on 'over' or 'under' the Grand Salami total. The total is set by adding up all listed 'over/under' odds for each game on that particular day.

Note: The Grand Salami will have no action if any game is suspended or cancelled before the regulation time of three twenty minute periods. Also, regardless of the number of goals scored during the shoot out portion of the overtime, the final scored recorded for the game will give the winning team on more goal than its opponent based on the score at the end of regulation time.

*The majority of sportsbooks do not put out a total on the Grand Salami when there is only one game on the card. For tracking purposes, we will continue to show the 'over/under' for goals and combined goals scored on days with just one game.

              Previews, Streaks, Tips, Notes

Wild swings on offense/defense has paid dividends for Minnesota 'Over' gamblers during February. In the first six games of the month Wild gave up 4.2 goals/game while scoring 2.3 per/contest resulting in 5 'Over' 1 'Push'. In the past three Wild have scored 5.0 goals/game giving up just 2.3 per/game going 'Over' in each contest. Minnesota will look to extend the 8-0-1 'Over' streak when they take on Chicago Blackhawks. The total is at 5.

                Preview: Pittsburgh at Buffalo
When: 12:30 PM ET, Sunday, February 21, 2016
Where: First Niagara Center, Buffalo, New York
The Pittsburgh Penguins look to continue their dominance in the series when they visit the improving Buffalo Sabres on Sunday afternoon. The Penguins, who dropped a 4-2 decision at home to Tampa Bay on Saturday to remain one point ahead of New Jersey for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, own a seven-game winning streak against Buffalo that includes a one-goal victory on Oct. 29 despite allowing 53 shots.
Pittsburgh expects to be without second-leading scorer Evgeni Malkin (lower body) for the ninth straight game, and his absence is perhaps shown the most on the power play, where the Penguins are 1-for-19 over an eight-game span. Marc-Andre Fleury missed Saturday’s game with an illness and is questionable to attempt to improve on an 18-5-2 lifetime record against the Sabres. Buffalo is riding a four-game point streak (3-0-1) as Robin Lehner is rounding into form after an early-season injury, allowing just two goals in his last three games. “I’ve been working hard,” Lehner told reporters. “There’s been some ups and downs. I’m just going to keep working. I feel pretty good right now.”
TV: 12:30 p.m. ET, NBC, Sportsnet
ABOUT THE PENGUINS (29-20-8): Captain Sidney Crosby leads the team with 25 goals and 55 points but has cooled off a bit, being kept off to scoresheet in four of his last five contests. The Penguins received goals from rookie forwards Scott Wilson and Tom Kuhnhackl on Saturday, and defenseman Kris Letang (team-best 34 assists) continues to produce, ranking third on the team with 43 points. Blue-liner Ben Lovejoy suffered an upper-body injury Saturday and will not play against Buffalo.
ABOUT THE SABRES (24-28-7): Ryan O’Reilly has not scored a goal in 18 games but still leads the team with 49 points and has notched nine assists in his last nine contests. Rookie Jack Eichel has recorded a goal and four assists during his four-game point streak and fellow first-round pick Sam Reinhart has scored twice in three contests to lead the team with 18. Defenseman Cody Franson suffered an undisclosed injury in Friday’s 4-0 win over Columbus and is expected to be replaced on the blue line Sunday by Mike Weber.
                OVERTIME
                1. The Sabres have had similar problems on the power play, going 1-for-18 over their last five games, but are 14-for-14 on the penalty kill in their last three contests.
                2. Pittsburgh RW Patric Hornqvist is one point away from reaching 300 for his career.
                3. Buffalo LW Evander Kane has scored three goals in three games and five over his last seven.
                PREDICTION: Sabres 5, Penguins 3

                  Preview: Chicago at Minnesota
When: 3:30 PM ET, Sunday, February 21, 2016
Where: TCF Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota
The “State of Hockey” will host an outdoor game for the first time in NHL history as the Minnesota Wild take to TCF Bank Stadium to vie for a season-high four-game winning streak when they face the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. While the weather conditions (approximately 40 degrees) are expected to be downright balmy for Minnesota at this time of year, the Wild have heated up as well after interim coach John Torchetti replaced Mike Yeo behind the bench.
Minnesota would like to extend its winning streak at the expense of Chicago, which has ended the Wild’s playoff run in each of the last three years. Minnesota has gained a sliver of revenge by taking the first two contests of this season’s series, posting a 5-4 triumph on Oct. 30 and a 2-1 decision on Dec. 1. Charlie Coyle scored in the first meeting, and has tallied in all three games of the Wild’s recent road trip and four of the last five contests to pull even with Zach Parise for the team lead in goals (18). “It’s a world of difference, it feels like,” Coyle told reporters after Minnesota’s 5-2 victory over Edmonton on Thursday. “All of sudden we feel good about ourselves, our confidence is growing each game and it’s a huge road trip for us.”

ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS (38-18-5): Patrick Kane had an assist in Chicago’s 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers on Wednesday to extend his point streak to four games (two goals, five assists). The 27-year-old superstar also had an assist in the first meeting with the Wild and scored one of his team-leading 34 goals in the second for his 29th point in 33 career encounters versus the club. Captain Jonathan Toews, who tallied twice in the first meeting with Minnesota, has seven points (two goals, five assists) in his last seven games overall.
ABOUT THE WILD (26-22-10): Mikael Granlund scored and set up a goal against the Oilers for his fifth point in the last five games (two goals, three assists). The 23-year-old Finn set up a pair of tallies in the most recent meeting this season with Chicago while fellow countryman and captain Mikko Koivu had three assists in the first one. Koivu has scored a goal and set up four others in the last three contests to increase his team-leading point total to 42 – six shy of last season’s output.

                    Preview: Detroit at NY Rangers
When: 7:00 PM ET, Sunday, February 21, 2016
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York
The New York Rangers will be without their captain once again when they host the Original Six-rival Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. Defenseman Ryan McDonagh suffered neck spasms and a bruised jaw from an elbow by Toronto’s Leo Komarov on Thursday in just his second game back after missing four with a concussion.
The Rangers have had a strong month thus far, going 6-2-1 to maintain second place in the Metropolitan Division. Detroit, which is holding the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, is looking to salvage the finale of its four-game road trip after going 0-2-1 in the first three contests. The Red Wings suffered their fourth loss in five overall games (1-2-2) Saturday at Ottawa but allowed only two goals after surrendering a total of 15 during their previous three contests. All three meetings between New York and Detroit last season were one-goal decisions, with the home team winning each matchup — one of which took place at Madison Square Garden.
                    TV: 7 p.m. ET, NBCSN
ABOUT THE RED WINGS (29-20-10): Detroit hopes to have Dylan Larkin in the lineup after the rookie sat out Saturday’s game with an illness. It was only the second contest of the season missed by the 19-year-old, who leads the team with 19 goals and ranks second with 39 points. After a rough start to the campaign, Pavel Datsyuk has climbed to third on the club in scoring (35 points) after collecting six goals and five assists during a seven-game point streak that ended in Ottawa.
ABOUT THE RANGERS (33-19-6): Daniel Paille’s time in New York appears to be over as the veteran left wing was placed on waivers Saturday. The fourth-liner, who was a first-round pick of Buffalo in 2002 and scored a career-high 19 goals with the Sabres in 2007-08, was signed Jan. 21 but failed to record a point in 12 games with the Rangers. Henrik Lundqvist is expected to be in net after Antti Raanta posted his first victory since Nov. 15 on Thursday.
                    OVERTIME
                    1. Half of Datsyuk’s 12 goals this season have come on the power play.
                    2. New York LW Rick Nash will miss his 12th consecutive game because of a bone bruise in his left leg.
                    3. Larkin is one tally shy of becoming the first Detroit rookie to reach the 20-goal plateau since captain Henrik Zetterberg accomplished the feat in 2002-03.
PREDICTION: Rangers 3, Red Wings 2

                      Preview: Tampa Bay at Carolina
When: 7:00 PM ET, Sunday, February 21, 2016
Where: PNC Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina
Captain Steven Stamkos could be starting to warm up at the right time as his Tampa Bay Lightning go after their third straight victory when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. Stamkos has recorded a goal in each of his last two games, including the 300th of his career in Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh.
“It’s pretty special,” Stamkos told reporters after becoming the third Lightning player to reach the milestone, joining Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis. “It means you’ve been around for a while, and I’ve been fortunate to play with a lot of good players.” Tampa Bay sits in third place in the Atlantic Division after scoring nine times the last two games while Carolina is two points out of a playoff spot after going 4-1-2 over its last seven contests. Jordan Staal remained hot, scoring for the third straight game in the Hurricanes’ 5-2 victory over San Jose on Friday, and Jeff Skinner added two goals. “Every day you come to the rink, it’s two big points on the line,” Skinner told reporters. “I think we’ve been able to battle pretty hard to get back in this situation and put ourselves in a spot where we’re in the hunt.”
TV: 7 p.m. ET, Sun Sports (Tampa Bay), FSN Carolinas
ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (32-22-4): Stamkos raised his season total to 24 goals, tying Nikita Kucherov for the team lead, and has prospered playing on a line with Alex Killorn and Ryan Callahan in the last two contests. That has allowed coach Jon Cooper to put the Triplets line back together, with Kucherov rejoining Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat. Cooper has not decided who will be in net on Sunday as Ben Bishop had to work hard to turn aside 37 shots against Pittsburgh while backup Andrei Vasilevskiy is 7-1-0 in his last eight decisions.
ABOUT THE HURRICANES (27-22-10): While captain Eric Staal snapped his seven-game point drought last time out, his brother Jordan has seized the scoring lead on the team with a strong run. The 27-year-old has recorded at least one point in four straight games and 10 of his last 12 to reach 37 on the season – two more than Victor Rask, who has notched four in as many contests. Defenseman Justin Faulk (leg) is expected to miss his sixth straight game, but goaltender Cam Ward returned Friday after sitting out two contests to improve to 6-0-4 in his last 10.
                      OVERTIME
                      1. The Lightning have won six of the last seven meetings, including a 4-3 road triumph on Nov. 1.
                      2. Carolina is 5-for-11 on the power play over its last four contests, but still ranks in the bottom-third of the league at 17.7 percent.
                      3. Tampa Bay D Matt Carle registered a goal and an assist Saturday after going 41 games without a point.
                      PREDICTION: Lightning 4, Hurricanes 3

                        Preview: Calgary at Anaheim
When: 7:00 PM ET, Sunday, February 21, 2016
                        Where: Honda Center, Anaheim, California
After spending nearly two weeks on the road, the Anaheim Ducks return to the comforts of the Honda Center on Sunday to begin a five-game homestand against the Pacific Division-rival Calgary Flames. Anaheim posted a 6-4 triumph in Calgary on Monday and added victories over Edmonton and Vancouver to extend its winning streak to four games and finish the season-high trek with a 5-1-1 mark.
Dousing the Flames is nothing new for the Ducks, who skated to a 5-3 triumph on Nov. 24 for their 21st consecutive home win over Calgary dating back to Jan. 19, 2004. Captain Ryan Getzlaf tied a franchise record with five assists in that contest and currently is riding a seven-game point streak – with five two-point performances included in that stretch. Like Anaheim, Calgary is also coming off a 5-2 victory over Vancouver, with defenseman T.J. Brodie matching a career high with three assists. Brodie has set up 11 goals in his last eight games to increase his personal-best total to 32 on the season.
TV: 7 p.m. ET, Sportsnet (Calgary), FSN Prime Ticket and FSN San Diego (Anaheim)
ABOUT THE FLAMES (26-28-3): After being held off the scoresheet in his first two meetings with Anaheim, Johnny Gaudreau erupted for a goal and two assists on Monday to begin a three-game point streak. Jiri Hudler also recorded a three-point performance (two goals, one assist) against the Ducks for his only points in the last four games. Jonas Hiller yielded four goals on 17 shots on Monday to fall to 1-2-0 with a gaudy 4.14 goals-against average versus his former team.
ABOUT THE DUCKS (30-19-8): Rickard Rakell, who has scored four goals in his last six games, tallied twice in the first meeting with Calgary and again in Monday’s victory over the Flames. Corey Perry has also scorched coach Bob Hartley’s troops, scoring two goals and an assist in the first encounter before notching one of each in Monday’s affair. John Gibson made 14 saves for his third shutout of the season in Anaheim’s 1-0 victory over Calgary on Dec. 29 to improve to 3-1-0 in his four career appearances versus the Flames.
                        OVERTIME
                        1. Anaheim has emerged victorious in 10 of its last 12 meetings with Calgary, including a five-game series victory in the second round of the playoffs last season.
                        2. Flames RW Michael Frolik scored and set up a goal on Friday after being held off the scoresheet in each of his previous four contests..
                        3. Anaheim has yielded at least one power-play goal in each of its last six games.
                        PREDICTION: Ducks 4, Flames 2

                          Preview: Colorado at Vancouver
When: 10:00 PM ET, Sunday, February 21, 2016
Where: Rogers Arena, Vancouver, British Columbia
The Colorado Avalanche look to continue their recent run of success after a disappointing start to the month when they visit the skidding Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. Colorado edged the Oilers in Edmonton on Saturday for its fourth win — all by one goal — in five games after beginning February with a four-game losing streak.
The Avalanche hope to maintain their hold on the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference as they lead Nashville by one point but have played two more games. Vancouver’s postseason hopes are fading quickly as it kicks off a five-game homestand. The Canucks have lost four straight contests to fall nine points behind the Predators for the final playoff spot. Vancouver is hoping history repeats itself as it posted a victory over Colorado on Feb. 9 to end a four-game slide.
TV: 10 p.m. ET, Altitude (Colorado), Sportsnet (Vancouver)
ABOUT THE AVALANCHE (31-26-4): Tyson Barrie halted a 15-game goal-scoring drought Saturday with his second two-tally performance of the season and third contest with at least three points. The 24-year-old defenseman also scored twice against Los Angeles on Jan. 4 while registering a season-high four points. Matt Duchene leads the team with 25 goals but has recorded only one in his last six games and two in the last nine.
ABOUT THE CANUCKS (22-24-12): Daniel Sedin, who leads the team with 50 points, is riding a four-game point streak during which he has noched one goal and four assists. Henrik Sedin’s point streak ended at four games as the captain was kept off the scoresheet by Calgary on Friday. Sven Baertschi is due to score Sunday as he has tallied in every other game since scoring at Colorado on Feb. 9.
                          OVERTIME
                          1. Each game during the Canucks’ current skid has been a 5-2 decision.
                          2. Colorado RW Jarome Iginla needs one power-play goal to tie Ron Francis (188) for 21st place on the all-time list.
                          3. Vancouver is 14th in the league on the penalty kill (81.1 percent) but ranks 25th on the power play at 16.9 percent.
                          PREDICTION: Canucks 3, Avalanche 1
