William Ladson of MLB.com reports that Sean Burnett did not make the Nationals' Opening Day roster.

Ladson also adds that Burnett will likely opt to explore free agency rather than accepting a minor league assignment. There had been rumblings last week that the Orioles could pursue a trade for the veteran left-hander, and they could be one of the clubs interested once he's on the open market.

Braves designated OF Michael Bourn for assignment.

The Braves had been attempting to shop the overpaid outfielder elsewhere rather than having the $14 million man sit on the bench. They opted to simply eat the money give the extra outfield spot to Drew Stubbs. Bourn shouldn't attract interest on waivers as no one wants to pay his massive price tag.

Brewers signed RHP Carlos Torres to a one-year contract.

It had been reported by Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN earlier in the day that the two sides were close to a deal. Torres will claim the final bullpen spot on the Brewers' Opening Day roster. He's expected to work in middle relief.
