  • Reds have 'all intents' to trade 2B Phillips

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Reds decided a month ago that they will shop Brandon Phillips this winter with "all intents to trade him."
The report comes on the heels of one from John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer that stated the club could be interested in moving the second baseman. Phillips had a .706 OPS in 2013, which was his lowest ever as a Red, but Fay indicated that the main reason they'd want to deal him is because he's ruffled some feathers in the organization. The second baseman has four years and $50 million left on his contract.

Wonder if the Yankees grab that bloated contract and washed up superstar to throw at 3rd base?

They move to the top of the list if Cano was to sign somewhere else.
Not sure who would pony up the scratch Cano wants other than the Yankees.
I could see the Tigers interested in Phillips. After next year they get 21 million off the books between Hunter and Martinez...
But got some pitchers that are going to need new deals.

I could see Rangers possible being in on either of those guys if they can convince Kinsler to move to left field.

Roberts is a free agent for Balty next year. They were paying him $40 mill over 4 years and he rarely played. Don't know if Angelos will sink that kind of money into another 2nd baseman, but there's a spot that needs to be filled. Alexi Casilla isn't the answer.

Didn't even think of them. That lineup would be sick.
Also in that area. You move Zimmerman to first. Rendon to third and Phillips to second for the Nationals
